Let’s raise a generation of male allies.

Human Rights &Development Services engaged hundreds of young men in a Senior High School in the Western Region on respect, healthy relationships, consent, and accountability.
When we teach boys early, we raise men who protect, not harm.

GBV is not a "women's issue." It is a human issue. And the solution requires all of us.

MILESTONE ACHIEVED: COMMUNITY SERVICE BILL, 2026 PASSED!

The Paliement of Ghana has passed the Community Service Bill, 2026 — a major step toward promoting restorative justice and reducing overcrowding in our prisons.

Human Rights &Development Services is proud to have played a leading role in advocating for this Bill in the Western Region through community engagements, stakeholder dialogues, and public education, we amplified the voices of citizens to ensure this law reflects the needs of our communities.

This advocacy was made possible with funding support from the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative - CHRI Africa. - USAID partnership under the Justice Sector Support Project in 2020-2021

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to CHRI and the Legal Resources Center for providing exceptional leadership in driving this national advocacy. Your dedication and partnership have been instrumental in getting us here.

Together, we are building a justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation over punishment.

Walking away is strength too. Real MEN control their EMOTIONS. 💚

Choosing peace over pressure doesn’t make you weak. It makes you wise, brave, and in control.

Let’s teach our boys that masculinity is not about fighting. It’s about respect, self-control, and courage to walk away.

Statement from Human Rights and Human Rights &Development Services on a defilement case involving a teacher!

Human Rights and Development Services commends the Ghana Education Service for taking swift action in leading the report and ensuring the arrest of the teacher involved in the defilement of a 12-year-old girl in the Shama District, Western Region. We also applaud the Ghana Police Service for resisting external pressures and proceeding with prosecution in line with the law. The fact that the suspect has been arrayed before the court shows commitment to upholding justice and protecting children.

We urge the Police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation so that the case is pursued to its full legal conclusion and justice is served for the victim and her family.

We also wish to assure the family of the victim that Human Rights and Development Services stands ready to provide psychological support to help them navigate this difficult process.

Child protection is a shared responsibility. We encourage all institutions and citizens to continue speaking up against abuse and to support systems that safeguard the rights and dignity of children in Ghana.
