For decades, hundreds of women accused of witchcraft in Northern Ghana have been forced to live in fear, and isolation. Today, that narrative is changing.
At Songtaba, we have remained at the forefront of advocacy for the protection and rights of vulnerable women, championing efforts that contributed to the national conversation around the ๐๐ป๐๐ถ-๐ช๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ถ๐น๐น and the urgent need to criminalize witchcraft accusations and related .

Through sustained engagement with authorities, leaders, institutions, and partners, two of the six identified witch camps in Northern Ghana, ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐น๐ถ, have been successfully abolished. This means dozens of women have been supported in rebuilding their lives, reconnecting with their families, and reclaiming their dignity and .
But our work is not done.
Four camps still remain and many women continue to face stigma, violence and discrimination simply because of beliefs and accusations.
This Impact Tuesday, we celebrate progress, but we also renew our commitment to a Ghana where no woman is persecuted, displaced or denied her rights because of an accusation of witchcraft.
Every camp is more than a milestone. It is a restored life, a reunited family and a step closer to justice.
Together, we can end witchcraft accusations and create communities where dignity, safety, and human rights prevail for all.

A new chapter has begun for young women in Gushegu Municipal Assembly and Tolon District as they graduate under the Empowering Female Youth in Northern Ghana initiative, Implemented by Songtaba under the Employee Innovation Fund (EIF) of the Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), the initiative equipped participants with practical skills, confidence and start-up support to help them build sustainable livelihoods.
The ceremony brought together the Municipal Chief Executive of Gushegu and a traditional chief from Lalgu, who celebrated the graduates and encouraged them to put their training into . They reminded the young women that local authorities remain available to provide guidance and support as they transition from trainees to entrepreneurs.
These are not only gaining skills they are gaining the tools to shape their futures, support their families, create opportunities for others and contribute to the development of their communities.
At Songtaba, we are proud of every graduate and excited to witness the impact of their determination, resilience and ambition.
