Nneka Youth Foundation Empowers 100 Young Women in Mafi Sasekpe Through the ACTIVATE Project in the Central Tongu District.

The Nneka Youth Foundation, through its Women Empowerment Initiative, has engaged 100 young women aged 15–35 in Mafi Sasekpe as part of the
the Accelerating Community Transformation, Innovation, Vocational Access, and Trade Employment (ACTIVATE) project. (ACTIVATE)

The one-month, non-competency-based training program focuses on agro-processing within the cassava value chain, with the first two weeks dedicated to processing cassava flour for pastry and baking. The training will subsequently expand to cover broader value-addition techniques, business skills, and market access.

The objective of the project anchored by Social Enterprise Ghana (SE Ghana) is to equip young women with mentorship sessions on small-scale enterprise that promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Through this intervention, the Foundation seeks to reduce poverty and address gender-based violence by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in the community.

The Foundation is grateful to its partners, training facilitators, and the entire Mafi Sasekpe community for their steadfast support and commitment to sustainable development.

The ACTIVATE Project reflects Nneka Youth Foundation’s ongoing commitment to building strong foundations for women in business and community development across Ghana.

A Week On — In Memory of Our Brother, Friend and Companion, Prince Edem Nutsi (Commander Hill)

It has been a week since we came together to bid farewell to our brother, friend and companion, Prince Edem Nutsi, affectionately known to many of us as Commander Hill.

On behalf of the family and management of Nneka Youth Foundation, we would like to express our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood with us during this difficult period.

To those who were present, those who contributed in one way or another, those who prayed with us, reached out, offered words of comfort, and supported the family — and to those who could not be with us for one reason or another — we appreciate you all deeply. Your presence and kindness meant more than words can adequately express.
As we continue to remember Commander Hill, we pray that the spirit of the brotherhood, friendship and memories we shared with him will continue to guide and inspire us in ways beyond our imagination.

It was beautiful to see so many of us come together again. But perhaps, amidst the sadness, there is also something we should take away from this experience:

Death should not be the only reason we come together.

Life may have taken each of us along different paths, and circumstances may have changed many things since the days when we were together. But we were once a team. We were once a family. And that bond should not have to end simply because life has moved us in different directions.
Let us therefore find ways to continue looking out for one another, supporting one another, and being present in each other's lives — even if only in our own little ways.

Because the journey of life was never meant to be travelled alone. We need one another, and tomorrow is never promised.

With this in mind, we would like to put forward a simple suggestion: the formation of an association that brings us together beyond moments of loss.

An association where we can support one another not only when we lose a brother or friend, but also in times of need, celebration, transition and opportunity. A platform where we can reconnect, look out for one another and preserve the bond we once shared.
Perhaps, from time to time, we could also organise a Homecoming — a gathering simply for us. A chance to come together, reminisce, laugh, reconnect, and remind ourselves that despite where life has taken us, we still belong to something we once built together.

This is only a suggestion for now. If we collectively feel that there is value in it, we can put our names forward, establish a proper platform or page, and eventually have executives or coordinators appointed to help guide the association.
Perhaps that can be one of the lasting things we take from Commander Hill's passing — a renewed commitment to one another.

Once again, on behalf of the family and management of Nneka Youth Foundation, thank you all for your kindness, support, prayers and time.

Commander Hill may no longer be with us physically, but the impact he had on each of us — in the good, the difficult, the laughter, the disagreements, the memories and everything in between — remains a part of our story.

He was our brother.
He was our friend.
He was our companion.
And he will always be a part of the family we shared.

May Prince Edem Nutsi, our beloved Commander Hill, continue to rest in peace until we meet again.

A Tribute to Prince Edem Nutsi (“Commander Hill")

Some people touch our lives briefly, but others leave an indelible imprint in our hearts. Prince Edem Nutsi-affectionately known to many in the Nneka family as Commander Hill-was one of those rare, unforgettable souls.

Prince, you joined the Nneka Youth Foundation as a volunteer in 2014 and quickly grew into an indispensable cornerstone of our team. Driven by a deep-seated passion for military service, you brought that same discipline, energy, and pride to our youth through military drill parades. As the leader of our young scouts and security, your unwavering diligence, command, and dedication earned you the title you wore so proudly: Commander Hill.

Yet, Prince, your talents went far beyond the parade grounds. You were a man of many gifts and a passionate mentor. You went length and breadth across all the Regions, Districts and Communities with information on our programs.
As a facilitator in our Vocational and Entrepreneurial Pathways, you patiently taught both women and youth the delicate art of beadwork, crafting keyholders and beautiful artistic pieces. You also helped coordinate our first Christmas party in Juanpong and Bator; that's how dedicated you were towards your community and its development.

An electrician by profession, you selflessly shared your knowledge, inspiring and equipping many young champs within our organisation to dream bigger and reach higher heights.
Like all of us, Prince, you were human. You had your flaws, your shortfalls, but you never hid behind them. Instead, you consistently strived to be a better person, a loyal friend, a loving father, and a steadfast companion. Your kindness knew no boundaries. You were charismatic and unapologetically vocal-if something wasn't right, you wouldn't gossip; you would pull one aside, speak your mind with love, and help find a way forward. One always knew where one stood with Prince.

Your untimely departure has left a heavy, painful void in our hearts. To many of us, it still feels like a dream, a mirage we long to wake up from. But as we confront the quiet reality that behind a son, a brother, a team member's journey here has ended, we take comfort in knowing that your legacy lives on in every life you touched, every young mind you mentored, and every heart you uplifted.

It is said that time favours some and tests others... but the beauty of time is that, whether in joy or sorrow, it never stays the same.
Our lives, our camps, our parade grounds and calling our youth to order and to assemble will never be the same without you, Commander.

But if our paths cross again, you will always be our leader, our son, our brother, and the faithful friend you always were.
Commander Hill, “We DeyGo", "If you move, I move with you, "Morale".... May your spirit continue to guide us in ways beyond our imagination. Rest in perfect peace until we meet again.

*EMPOWERING YOUTH ENTREPRENEURS ACROSS THE VOLTA REGION.*

Today, 24th July 2026, marks a major milestone in youth empowerment as the first batch of 10 young entrepreneurs received financial support of GHS 10,000 each from the Volta Youth Development Fund.

Launched on 7th March 2026 by the visionary Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu. The Fund was established to address youth unemployment by providing seed funding, mentorship, and opportunities for sustainable growth. The Nneka Youth Foundation is proud to have a beneficiary in this initiative: Mr James Nyalemegbe Morkporkpor (from Ve Gbodome, in the Afadjato South District).

The Regional Minister commended the Board leadership—Togbe Komla Sakpiti V (Board Chairman), Mrs Cecilia Fiaka (Vice Chairperson), and Mr Stephen D. K. Timinca (Administrator)—for their unwavering dedication to driving socio-economic growth in the region.
As these beneficiaries step forward to grow their businesses and create jobs, the Minister call on corporate organisations, development partners, and philanthropists to donate to the Fund and partner with the initiative to expand the Fund and empower more young visionaries across the region.

We write with deep regret to formally inform all stakeholders of the postponement of the Nneka
Orange Boot Camp 2026, which was scheduled to take place from 9th August to 29th
August 2026.

Nneka Youth Foundation has, after careful deliberation, taken the difficult decision to suspend this year's Boot Camp edition due to circumstances beyond our control.
Our hearts remain heavy as we continue to mourn the untimely passing of one of our dedicated core team members, who lost his life in a tragic road accident two weeks ago. This devastating loss has significantly affected our team, operations, and preparations for the
programme. In light of these circumstances, we believe it is prudent to postpone the Boot
Camp to allow the Foundation adequate time to grieve, reorganise, and strategically
reposition for future implementation.
We appreciate your support and continuous collaboration.

Nneka Youth Foundation joined the global community to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day with an impactful session at Alavanyo Secondary Technical School in the Hohoe Municipality on May 28, 2026. Under the theme, "Empowering Girls, Ending Period Poverty," the event fostered vital discussions on dignity, sustainability, and youth empowerment.

A panel focused on practical menstrual health education, where female students shared their experiences and unique challenges. The foundation also promoted eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads as a cost-effective, safe, and sustainable alternative, highlighting opportunities for girls to explore self-employment in production and entrepreneurship.

Boys were also involved through sessions on empathy and mutual support, aimed at breaking stigmatisation and promoting respect. Active participants received souvenirs like branded T-shirts, notepads, and reusable pads.
The program resonated with the school leadership, which invited the foundation to co-facilitate orientation sessions for new students, embedding menstrual health awareness and reusable sanitary pads into the school culture.

We thank our partners, volunteers, and supporters for their ongoing commitment to empowering young people.
