Under this careful stewardship, player and coaching development as well as youth and academy schemes have been developed and our contact with other European national rugby unions has also grown. It has been a real pleasure taking part in European rugby events and we are grateful to everyone that has made us so welcome and of whom we now regard as firm friends. We were delighted when FIRA-AER accepted our application to apply to join the European rugby family as an Associate Member and pleased that on the 6th July, at the Congress in Stockholm, existing FIRA-AER members will have the opportunity to vote on whether to accept our bid. Naturally, we very much hope that they will vote in favour of Gibraltar and give us the opportunity to develop our rugby even further, as well as the chance to welcome them to Gibraltar. Gibraltar has already been accepted by over 20 internationally recognised sporting associations and federations, where we actively participate with our fellow sports men, women and children from other nations, across Europe and beyond. We are ready to join FIRA-AER as an Associate Member and I hope that the FIRA-AER members share a similar view and will vote in our favour.
