The future of folding carton production is hybrid.
Drukarnia Tamir in Poland has invested in the VariJET 106, demonstrating how the combination of offset and digital printing creates a more flexible, and competitive production environment.
With the VariJET 106, Tamir will replace older offset capacity for more than 3,600 short- and medium-run jobs and over 5.6 million sheets annually, while running production that previously required two offset shifts to a single VariJET shift.
“This is a significant strategic step for Tamir,” says Michal Krywulec, President of the Management Board, Tamir. “From the beginning, I had one key requirement: our digital press had to complement our offset production, not replace it. It had to be fully compatible with our existing workflow and, most importantly, capable of printing on the same carton substrates that we already use in offset production. This allows us to switch between technologies depending on the customer’s needs while maintaining the same quality standards and production flexibility.”

Boxen Emballage, a leading corrugated packaging manufacturer in Denmark, has transformed its production with the Elitron Kombo TAV automatic digital cutting system.
By eliminating the need for traditional cutting dies on short-run jobs, Boxen Emballage has gained the flexibility to produce anything from just a few dozen custom boxes to hundreds of units, without the additional tooling costs.
As CEO Rune Jørgensen explains:
