Moments from the Welcome & White Coat Ceremony of the Medical Degree English Program at the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Our first-year students were officially welcomed to the NKUA community by Professor Sophia Papaioannou, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, International Relations and Extroversion; Professor Pagona Lagiou, Dean of the School of Health Sciences; Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos, Dean of the School of Medicine; and Professor Konstantinos Tsioufis, Director of the Medical Degree English Program and Vice-Dean of the School of Medicine.
The highlight of the day was, of course, the moment our new students received and wore their white coats for the first time — a milestone they will remember throughout their medical careers.
The celebration was accompanied by a beautiful musical performance by the Mixed Choir of the Department of Music Studies of NKUA and concluded with our first-year group photo and a reception in the University Courtyard.
Smiles, excitement, new friendships and white coats — some of our favourite moments from a truly special day.
To our newest medical students: Welcome to NKUA. Your journey in Medicine starts here!
The White Coat Ceremony of the Medical Degree English Program was filled with moments our first-year students will carry with them for years to come.
From the warm welcome by the Rectoral Authorities and the leadership of the School of Health Sciences and the School of Medicine, to the presentation of the first white coats, the music of the Mixed Choir of the Department of Music Studies, and the smiles of our new students — it was a truly memorable day.
The white coat is more than something you wear. It marks the first step into a life dedicated to Medicine, with all the knowledge, responsibility, compassion, and experiences that lie ahead.
Relive some of the amazing moments from a day to remember.
To our first-year students: this is where your journey begins. Welcome to Medicine. Welcome to NKUA.
Today, after receiving their white coats, Maria from Germany, George from the USA, and Euijin from South Korea share their first thoughts and emotions as they begin their journey at the Medical Degree English Program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Three students. Three countries. One shared dream: Medicine.
The White Coat Ceremony marks a symbolic first step into the medical profession — a journey of knowledge, responsibility, compassion, and discovery.
Welcome to NKUA. Welcome to Medicine. Your journey starts here! 💙
