The EU generated a total of 225,7 million tonnes of municipal waste in 2020 - that is, 505 kg of waste per person on average!
Municipal waste is waste from households, shops, offices, and public institutions, collected by local authorities.
💡 Managing waste responsibly and sustainably is crucial for the welfare of the planet. Recycling alone cannot solve the growing waste problem. But, it is a vital element of the "waste hierarchy" concept and an essential condition for achieving a circular economy.
Treat your waste right, at home and work! Preventing and reducing waste should be a priority, followed by reuse and recycling. Disposing of waste in landfills should be the very last option!

Our habits decide our future!
And our daily habits have a big impact on the planet and the ocean.
By changing our dailly habits, we have a chance to a more sustainable future!
When working together with determination and passion, amazing things can happen! Like the removal of more than 100 tons of marine litter within a few days on the island of Andros, Greece.
Congratulations to thegravitywave, Enaleia, and everyone who joined and supported .
It was our pleasure to be a part of the effort, and we look forward to keeping working together for a cleaner Mediterranean Sea and a more sustainable future!

The majority of consumers today (73%) are willing to embrace sustainable lifestyles, according to a recent survey commissioned by Alibaba Group. However, 38% of them doubt the validity of claims made by companies about the of their products, with European consumers being the most skeptical.
Gaining the trust of eco-conscious consumers is important for both the environment and client retention. Supply chain and material are key to building trust in sustainability efforts.
At Keep Sea Blue, we have developed a system, powered by Oracle Blockchain technology, in order to enable full material traceability and transparency across the plastics supply chain.
Our system, incorporating a Certification Programme and an online Blockchain platform, is a powerful tool for sustainability-driven companies to foster trust and communicate transparently their sustainability initiatives.

Making the right choice for you and the planet isn’t always easy. Given what is at stake, we believe we owe to do our best! Starting with becoming more aware of the impact of our daily habits.
💡 Let's talk about takeaway coffee cups and packaging. Hundreds of billions of single-use coffee cups and takeaway bowls are used every year. Paper coffee cups and takeaway food containers have been introduced as more eco-friendly options than plastic ones. Yet, unlike most paper or plastic items, single-use paper coffee cups and takeaway packaging are not recycled. This is because they are coated in plastic to be able to hold liquids without leaking. Most recycling centers cannot separate plastic coating from paper. As a result, these items end up in landfills or in incineration.
Now, scientists have discovered that these multilayer single-use items also contain a mixture of toxic synthetic materials and chemicals that are harmful to the environment and our health, not only when they end up in landfills or in nature, but also even while they are being used!
Companies and scientists must continue the search for safer and more sustainable solutions. While the search is on, we as consumers can play a role in reducing the impact of these items.
🤔 What can we do?
✔️Consume more mindfully and think about the consequences of our actions.
✔️Opt for options, even at the expense of our convenience, and use them for as long as possible. Reusable takeaway packaging has a better environmental performance than single-use items, if reused a sufficient number of times.
✔️ the used products or properly dispose of the non-recyclable ones to keep them away from the environment.
✔️ Spread the word to increase awareness and urge more people to make informed choices.
✔️Support companies that prioritise practices.

Summer is the time to relax. But while we are in vacation mode, we don’t give our planet a break. On the contrary!
is growing relentlessly, with adverse implications for the health of the ocean, food safety and quality, and eventually human health.
⚠️ The Mediterranean Sea is polluted by an estimated 266,000 tons of plastic waste every year.
⚠️ Approximately 11,500 tons of plastic waste end up in the Greek seas annually.
The problem of plastic waste management in the Mediterranean is significantly worsened during tourism season. Summer tourists increase waste production by 30% in many coastal areas of the Mediterranean.
👉 The least we can do while enjoying and relaxing is to respect the environment and properly manage our waste! Individual responsibility matters!

is a global movement encouraging us to be part of the solution to end plastic pollution.
is not just a matter of aesthetics. It is an urgent matter threatening the health of our oceans with potential implications for our own health.
With small changes to our everyday habits and more responsible behaviours, we can create a positive change for the ocean and the planet! Our well-being depends on it!
