Ο 1ος αγώνας Agility FCI στην Κύπρο είναι πλέον γεγονός!

Ο Κυνολογικός Όμιλος Κύπρου σας προσκαλεί σε ένα διήμερο γεμάτο δράση, ταχύτητα και συνεργασία σκύλου και χειριστή!

24–25 Οκτωβρίου 2026, στο Γήπεδο Κιτίου, στην Λάρνακα,
4 αγώνες CACT — δύο το Σάββατο και δύο την Κυριακή.

Κάθε ημέρα, ο πρώτος αγώνας θα ξεκινά στις 10:00 π.μ. και ο δεύτερος πραγματοποιείται κατά τη διακοπή, πριν από τους τελικούς.

Κόστος συμμετοχής:
• Και στους 4 αγώνες: €40 συνολικά.
• Σε 1, 2 ή 3 αγώνες: €30 συνολικά, ανεξαρτήτως του αριθμού αγώνων που θα επιλέξετε.

Η φόρμα συμμετοχής θα είναι διαθέσιμη στις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2026.

Παράλληλα, θα πραγματοποιηθούν μαθήματα Agility & Obedience για όλους όσοι ενδιαφέρονται, με τον πολύπειρο εκπαιδευτή κ. Χρίστο Πρινιωτάκη.

Cyprus’s first FCI Agility competition is here!

The Cyprus Kennel Club invites you to an exciting weekend of speed, skill and teamwork between dogs and their handlers!

24–25 October 2026, at Kiti Stadium, Larnaca
4 CACT competitions — two on Saturday and two on Sunday.
Classes: Beginners / A1 / A2 / A3
Judge: Roxy Alexandra

Each day, the first competition starts at 10:00 a.m., and the second takes place during the break, before the finals.

Entry fees:
• All 4 competitions: €40 in total.
• 1, 2 or 3 competitions: a fixed total fee of €30, regardless of how many you choose.

The entry form will be available on 23 September 2026.

Agility & Obedience lessons will also be offered to anyone interested, led by highly experienced trainer Mr Christos Priniotakis.

Obedience Is Not Behaviour

There’s a fundamental misunderstanding in the dog-training world: obedience and behaviour are not the same thing. You can teach a dog a perfect sit, down or heel, yet still struggle with lunging, reactivity, chasing, guarding, or any other dangerous or unwanted behaviour.

Why? Because obedience commands do not change how a dog perceives a situation. And until that perception shifts, the behaviour stays firmly in place.

Unwanted Behaviour Must Be Addressed Directly

A dog indulges in a behaviour because, from the dog’s perspective, it works. It’s beneficial, rewarding, fun, relieving, or simply habit.

To change that behaviour, the dog must learn, through clear and consistent consequences, that the behaviour no longer improves the dog’s situation. Only then can the dog choose a different response or stop altogether.

This has nothing to do with:
• Luring with food
• Endless engagement games
• “Mental stimulation”
• Over-exercising the dog

None of these tactics erase the dog’s belief that the unwanted behaviour is necessary, effective, or enjoyable. You cannot bribe a dog out of a behaviour it finds self-reinforcing.

Why Most Trainers Avoid the Real Issue

Far too many trainers focus on everything but the problematic behaviour. Not because the alternative work is what the dog needs, but because they lack the knowledge, experience, or confidence to address the behaviour head-on.

So instead, you’re sold:
• Engagement training
• Food-based obedience
• Stimulation plans
• Multi-week “progress packages”

All of which keep you on the books, spending money, while your dog’s actual issue remains untouched.

The Real Concept Is Simple But It’s Not Easy

Stopping unwanted behaviour follows a straightforward principle:
1. Prevent the dog from rehearsing the behaviour for a period of time.
Every repetition strengthens it.
2. Reintroduce the dog to the context where the behaviour typically occurs.
3. Control the outcome so that performing the behaviour no longer benefits the dog in any way.

When the dog repeatedly experiences that the behaviour fails to achieve its goal, the behaviour loses value and begins to fade.

Simple in theory but ex*****on is where things get complicated.

Where Most Owners Struggle

The variables around behaviour modification are incredibly nuanced:
• The dog must make the correct association without you directly influencing or overshadowing the learning.
• Timing, body language, environmental control, and clarity all matter.
• The dog may need a conditioned alternative behaviour to fall back on (something incompatible with the problematic behaviour.)
• The transition from controlled setups to real-life environments must be done carefully.

This is where genuine experience matters. Behaviour is not something an “overnight expert” can fix with a handful of treats and a training package.

Work With Skilled, Experienced Trainers

If your dog is displaying behaviour that is unwanted or dangerous, you need guidance from trainers who actually understand behaviour. Not just obedience routines.

Professionals who can read a dog, shape outcomes, and engineer learning in a way that changes the dog’s perception, not just its tricks.

Because at the end of the day:

Obedience is optional.
Behaviour is not.

Σήμερα, 3 Ιουλίου 2025, ο Κυνολογικός Όμιλος Ελλάδος πραγματοποίησε προγραμματισμένη συνάντηση στο Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών, με σκοπό να εκφράσει την αντίθεσή του στην άμεση έναρξη επιβολής προστίμων, καθώς και να καταθέσει ολοκληρωμένες προτάσεις για την ορθολογική εφαρμογή του Ν. 4830/2021.

Ύστερα από ουσιαστικό και ειλικρινή διάλογο διάρκειας πολλών ωρών, αποφασίστηκε η κατάθεση νομοθετικής ρύθμισης, η οποία τροποποιεί σημαντικά κρίσιμες παραμέτρους του νόμου.

Η ρύθμιση αυτή αποτελεί καρπό της γόνιμης συνεργασίας της Πολιτείας με θεσμικούς φορείς και τον ΚΟΕ, οι οποίοι με συνέπεια και τεκμηρίωση υπερασπίζονται τις αρχές της υπεύθυνης κυνοφιλίας.

Στο πλαίσιο της ρύθμισης προβλέπεται:
• Παράταση τεσσάρων μηνών, έως την 1η Νοεμβρίου 2025, στην επιβολή προστίμων για μη αποστολή δείγματος DNA ή μη στείρωση ζώου,
• Μείωση του παραβόλου από 70€ σε 20€ για όλους τους ιδιοκτήτες ζώων συντροφιάς και από 40€ σε 20€ για κυνηγετικούς σκύλους,
• Πλήρης απαλλαγή από την πληρωμή παραβόλου έως τις 31 Οκτωβρίου 2025 για τους ιδιοκτήτες σκύλων αναγνωρισμένων ελληνικών φυλών που είναι μέλη του Κυνολογικού Ομίλου Ελλάδος και των οποίων οι σκύλοι είναι εγγεγραμμένοι στο γενεαλόγιο του ΚΟΕ.

Η συγκεκριμένη πρόβλεψη συνιστά έμπρακτη αναγνώριση της σημασίας του έργου του ΚΟΕ, τόσο στην προστασία των ελληνικών φυλών όσο και στην ενίσχυση της υπεύθυνης κυνοφιλίας, μέσα από κανόνες, γνώση και διαφάνεια.

Ο Κυνολογικός Όμιλος Ελλάδος ευχαριστεί τον Υφυπουργό Εσωτερικών κ. Σπανάκη, για την ειλικρινή διάθεση διαλόγου και τη θεσμική στήριξη των προτάσεων που κατατέθηκαν – προτάσεις που δεν εξαντλούνται στις ανωτέρω ρυθμίσεις.

Ο ΚΟΕ, πιστός στις αρχές της τεκμηριωμένης παρέμβασης, θα συνεχίσει να εργάζεται με στόχο ένα νομικό πλαίσιο δίκαιο, εφαρμόσιμο και πραγματικά ωφέλιμο για τους σκύλους και τους υπεύθυνους ιδιοκτήτες τους.
