This month’s Soft Walls presents artist Bora Baboçi in conversation with curator Pati Vardhami⚡️
Thursday 2nd of July at 19:00
Duration: 50 minutes
Language: English

At Soft Walls, we invite artists and curators that inhabit Athens permanently, occasionally or momentarily to share excerpts, points, reasonings and thoughts around their practice in the context of an artist talk.

Soft Walls function as listening and exchanging platforms, invitations and opportunities to meet, share and fill the space with words and thoughts that we consider vehicles and catalysts for our shared experiences. 🎙

👀 Bora Baboçi was born in Tirana, Albania where she lives and works. Educated in architectural design and theory she spent several years exploring the built environment. Her visual practice appears through drawing, painting and spatial intervention, searching for traces of elusive transition.
She assembles informal space with intimate compositions and enquires displacement and transformation of matter to treat issues of domesticity and uprootedness. By use of sound, fiction and archival elements she creates encounters of affect around understandings of heritage and place. She often mediates her visual gestures into published texts.

Baboçi has exhibited at Belmacz Gallery in London, Suprainfinit Gallery in Bucharest, Bazament Space in Tirana and Art House in Shkodër; her work also featured in collective exhibitions at the National Gallery of Albania, Manifesta14 in Prishtina and Autostrada Biennale in Prizren. Baboci has attended residencies including Art Explora in Paris and Salzburger Kunstverein in Austria.

👀Pati Vardhami is a curator and theorist. She was born in Tirana, Albania and has studied Contemporary Art Theory. Her work experience spans through art spaces in London and Athens such Melas Martinos, Frieze Project and Talks and the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) among others.
