🎺 The exhibition ΑΚΡΟΒΟΛΙΣΤΕΣ/SKIRMISHERS is on view until August the 30th at the Archaeological Museum of Florina (1, Sid. Stathmou str., Florina).

⛰️Yiannis Hadjiaslanis creates a photographic and archival environment that inhabits the Museum’s permanent archaeological collection as a spectral presence. Developed through the artist’s exploration of the wider Florina region, the photographic series depicts sites where, according to historical research and local testimony, sections of the riflemen’s routes once passed. Places inhabited and traversed for centuries, timeless landscapes reclaimed by vegetation, where traces of human presence have become almost imperceptible, connect the archaeological objects into a shared scenography while simultaneously occupying the foreground of the exhibition’s narrative. Archival photographs drawn from digital collections are then reworked through Hadjiaslanis’s artistic gesture before returning to their material form to coexist with the archaeological artefacts.

🎺Η έκθεση ΑΚΡΟΒΟΛΙΣΤΕΣ συνεχίζεται μέχρι τις 30/8 στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Φλώρινας (Σιδ. Σταθμού 1, Φλώρινα).

⛰️Ο Γιάννης Χατζηασλάνης δημιουργεί ένα φωτογραφικό και αρχειακό εκθεσιακό περιβάλλον το οποίο κατοικεί φασματικά τη μόνιμη αρχαιολογική συλλογή του Μουσείου. Η φωτογραφική σειρά που προέκυψε από την περιήγηση του καλλιτέχνη στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της Φλώρινας, απεικονίζει τοποθεσίες όπου σύμφωνα με την ιστορική έρευνα και τις μαρτυρίες των κατοίκων,  χαράχτηκαν τμήματα των διαδρομών των στρατευμάτων των τυφεκιοφόρων. Σημαντικές θέσεις κατοίκησης και δραστηριότητας για τους τοπικούς πληθυσμούς ανά τους αιώνες, άχρονα τοπία, πνιγμένα από τη βλάστηση, με ανεπαίσθητα τα κατάλοιπα της ανθρώπινης παρουσίας, συνενώνουν τα επιμέρους εκθέματα ως σκηνικό αλλά και στο προσκήνιο της αφήγησης. Φωτογραφικά τεκμήρια αντλημένα από ψηφιακές αρχειακές συλλογές, περνάνε από την εικαστική χειρονομία του Χατζηασλάνη για να επιστρέψουν στην υλικότητά τους και να συνυπάρξουν με τα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα.

While dominant accounts of modern Greek history have largely been framed through the geopolitical axis of East and West and the histories of powerful actors, how were these upheavals experienced at the local level, in collective and personal memory? Do great historical events leave their traces upon the mountains? Can the landscape itself become a living archive of historical rupture? The artistic and curatorial research sought to listen to testimonies that linger like whispers: those of water, forests, animals and mountain peaks; of their sounds, and of the voices of the human and more-than-human communities that inhabited or passed through this land.

Drawing on original archival material, the exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of Florina brings together a photography installation by visual artist and photographer Yiannis Hadjiaslanis, a performance by musician and visual artist Maria Sideri in collaboration with trumpeter Antonis Kostopoulos, and theatre-based workshops for children and adolescents designed by Chara Lioliou.

The production is presented as part of the Ministry of Culture’s "All of Greece, One Culture" 2026 programme.
The event is offered free of charge by the Ministry of Culture. Participants are only required to pay the archaeological site's admission fee of €5, which applies to visitors over the age of 25. Participation in the workshops is free of charge.
