TORNADO EU project Plenary Meeting 3: from R&D progress to integrated robotic systems.

The TORNADO consortium came together in Pilsen, for its 3rd Plenary Meeting, hosted by the University of West Bohemia (UWB).



Three days of intensive collaboration brought together the latest developments across the project, from safe robot planning, navigation and manipulation, to adaptive AI, robotic perception and human-robot interaction, and the integration of these technologies into the TORNADO robotic systems.



A key focus of the meeting was the 1st in-lab validation. The consortium reviewed the progress of the three robotic systems, their modules, testing scenarios and integration readiness, moving one step closer to demonstrating how the different technologies work together as a unified system.



The highlight came during the Integration Workshop, where the partners worked hands-on around a concrete robotic scenario: approaching an AMR and instructing it to grab an apple placed on the ground in a defined hallway.



Three days. One consortium. Multiple technologies coming together and a clear step forward towards robots that can perceive, understand, adapt and act in dynamic human environments.

🚗🤖 We are pleased to share that ITML participated in the Shape Future Project Face-to-Face Integration Meeting for Demonstrator 3.3, held in Turin, Italy, on 23–24 September 2026, hosted by Danisi Engineering and Bylogix .

The two-day meeting focused on the integration and end-to-end validation of Demo 3.3, bringing together the different sensors, hardware devices, and software components involved in the autonomous vehicle demonstrator.

As part of Demo 3.3, ITML develops the LLM-based Decision System, a central reasoning and action-provision component that processes structured contextual information from vehicle sensors and monitoring systems and translates it into high-level driving decisions in real time.

🔹 Day 1 – DANISI: The partners integrated the different components into the vehicle and performed end-to-end testing in a simulation environment, validating the complete data and decision-making flow.

🔹 Day 2 – BYLOGIX: The integrated system was further tested in a real vehicle environment, providing valuable insights into the interaction between sensors, computing components, the LLM-based decision system, and the vehicle.

The integration meeting was an important step towards the final validation of Demo 3.3, allowing us to verify the complete end-to-end workflow, identify areas for further improvement, and prepare the system for the next validation activities.

🟢 ITML at the MedEWSa project Plenary Meeting in Limassol, Cyprus!

ITML participated in the MedEWSa Plenary Meeting, organised in parallel with MedCLIVAR 2026, as the project enters its final months. During the meeting, ITML presented the latest advancements of the Decision Support and Dissemination System (DSDS) platform, together with the newly prepared DSDS training video, supporting users in making effective use of the platform and its functionalities.

ITML also participated in the MedEWSa–ARTEMis Policy Round Table on Multi-Hazard Early Warning, Preparedness and Operational Uptake, hosted at the Limassol Municipal Library. The event provided an important opportunity for stakeholders to exchange perspectives on strengthening the operational uptake and long-term impact of multi-hazard early warning solutions.

🟦 Last week, ITML participated in the final plenary meeting of the AVALANCHE - Horizon Europe Project in Bucharest, as the project approaches its completion at the end of September.

The meeting included the training and presentation of the final release of the AVALANCHE platform, followed by hands-on testing by SPP officers and invited guests, providing valuable feedback on the project’s final solutions.

The consortium also reviewed the project’s key achievements, final activities and deliverables, marking an important milestone as AVALANCHE reaches its conclusion.

We are pleased to have contributed to this collaborative European effort and to the work carried out throughout the project.

Last Friday, we took a little break from the office, with the best team and a sea view.

Our annual Summer Cruise has become an ITML tradition, a chance to connect beyond the workplace, share great moments, and enjoy some quality time together.

🚀 Proud to see ITML’s George S. Theodoropoulos contributing to the discussion on “Fostering a Competitive and Sovereign European AI Ecosystem” at the FIWARE Global Summit 2026.

An important conversation on how Europe can build greater AI sovereignty, autonomy, and resilience while remaining competitive on the global stage.

🟣 ITML was pleased to participate in the Final Review Meeting of the ARCHIMEDES project, hosted by CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology in Brno, Czech Republic on 02-03/09/2026.

ITML presented their exploitation result on data management and analytics software, which was integrated in a Search and Rescue environment, supporting emergency response and perception management.

We would like to thank all the partners for the collaboration, and we look forward to building upon the knowledge, technologies, and partnerships established through ARCHIMEDES.

🟠 ITML at the TURING Plenary Meeting in Heraklion

On 20–21 July 2026, the ITML team participated in the Turing Project Plenary Meeting, held in Heraklion, Greece.

The two-day meeting brought the consortium together for productive technical discussions focused primarily on the TURING Architecture and its components. Partners examined their functionality, integration, and links to the project’s use cases and requirements, as well as the next steps towards implementation.

As leader of WP7 – Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, ITML also presented the activities completed so far, reviewed progress against the project’s communication and dissemination objectives, and outlined the action plan for the second year of TURING.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to strengthen coordination among partners, align technical priorities and establish a clear direction for the next phase of the project.

A warm thank you to all TURING partners for the constructive collaboration and to IACM-FORTH for the excellent hospitality and organisation in Heraklion.

🟢Two productive days at the MOSAIC 2nd General Assembly meeting in Istanbul, where partners came together to review the project's 1st year progress, strengthen collaboration, and align the next steps towards the upcoming Review Meeting in September.

Throughout the meeting, discussions focused on the advancement of the Research & Innovation Streams, the progress of WP2 and WP3 developments and demonstrator alignment across all Research & Innovation Streams. Interactive workshops and technical sessions provided an excellent opportunity to coordinate ongoing work, exchange expertise, and further integrate the project's innovative technologies.

ITML participated in the workshops that laid the groundwork for the second year of implementation. We also advanced discussions on stakeholder engagement through the development of the MOSAIC Acceptance Game, helping to refine our roadmap and strengthen collaboration with demonstrator leaders to maximise the impact of our contributions.

MOSAIC is paving the way for the next generation of Electronic Components and Systems (ECS), strengthening Europe's technological independence and global leadership in automated systems through cutting-edge innovation. We are proud to contribute to this ambitious vision alongside an outstanding consortium of partners.
