🎬 International Youth Day
This year's International Youth Day reminds us that meaningful change begins when young people are empowered to follow their dreams, express themselves, and shape the communities around them.

Billy Elliot is more than a coming-of-age story. It celebrates the courage to challenge expectations, the importance of supportive communities, and the power of young people to redefine their future.

As we mark this year's theme, "Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond," CIFEJ celebrates stories that encourage creativity, participation and resilience—because every young voice has the potential to inspire change.

At CIFEJ, we believe that film empowers young people to imagine, express and shape a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Nelson Mandela (1918–2013) was a South African anti-apartheid leader, human rights advocate and the country's first democratically elected President. After spending 27 years in prison for his fight against racial injustice, he emerged as a global symbol of peace, reconciliation and hope. Believing deeply in the power of education to transform lives, his legacy continues to inspire generations to build a more just, compassionate and inclusive world.

🤝 International Day of Friendship
Friendship has the power to bridge differences, inspire understanding, and remind us of our shared humanity. Today, we celebrate the connections that bring people together and help build a more peaceful world.

🎬 The Iron Giant (1999), directed by Brad Bird, is a timeless story about an unlikely friendship between a young boy and a giant robot. Beyond its memorable adventure, the film reminds us that trust, compassion and kindness can overcome fear, prejudice and conflict.

As the United Nations highlights, friendship between people, cultures and communities is a powerful force for peace and reconciliation. Through stories like The Iron Giant, young audiences discover that understanding begins with empathy—and that even the most unexpected friendships can change the world.
