AmchamGuyana in collaboration with the Environment Management Consultants (EMC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on July 29th hosted an Environmental Forum bringing together members to strengthen dialogue on environmental stewardship, safety and sustainable business practices. The forum provided a platform for participants to connect with industry peers, gain insights into environmental best practices, and engage directly with the regulator on key compliance requirements.

AmCham Guyana is deeply saddened by the incident involving the MV Barima while en route to Port Kaituma. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was on board, as well as their families and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We continue to pray for the safe recovery of those who remain unaccounted for and for strength, comfort, and hope for all those affected.

The American Chamber of Commerce Guyana was pleased to host an In Brief session with Google and the U.S. Embassy Guyana

During the meeting, AmCham Guyana representatives Richard Leo and Leah Alves welcomed Google's Mauro Miyake and Alejandro Almazan Zimerman, alongside Bruce Ellsworth and Laura Ramirez from the U.S. Embassy.

The discussion highlighted Google's ongoing commitment to advancing education and digital skills development.

The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Guyana recently hosted its fifth Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Conference under the theme โ€œBuilding a Health and Safety Culture for a Safer Guyana.โ€

Executive Director Richard Leo emphasized the importance of strengthening health and safety standards as Guyanaโ€™s economy expands, urging businesses to view workplace safety as an investment that improves productivity and protects workers.

U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission John Crippen highlighted the role of U.S. companies in knowledge transfer and technology adoption, noting that Guyana has a unique opportunity to build a strong foundation for sustainable growth.

The conference focused on strengthening building standards, promoting a stronger HSSE culture, and advancing workplace health and wellness.

Presentations addressed the use of technology to improve safety performance, the importance of preventative healthcare, and HSSE requirements in procurement and tendering processes. Speakers stressed that investing in safety fosters accountability, responsibility and operational excellence.
