Dear BLOK magazine community,

After several years of dedicated work and profound care for BLOK magazine, we, the editor-in-chief team, have resigned from our post
to establish a new platform, MOST magazine ().

We have spent our time since 2021 shaping BLOK in a way that reflects our values and interests, working closely and tirelessly with writers, artists, and cultural workers around the world. The decision to leave has been a very painful one to make, but necessary to ensure that we can continue publishing critical journalism at the intersection of art, culture, and politics in a way that is healthier and more supportive for us, our writers, and the artists we feature.

We are currently pouring our energies into the development of MOST and will welcome you very soon to read the texts and access the exhibitions you have come to know and trust through our work at BLOK.

MOST aims to be a critical cultural resource that is sustainable for its editors and authors in terms of both professional and affective labor.

We are grateful for your readership, allyship, and friendship, and hope you will continue this journey with us through MOST.

The Konrad and Paweł Jarodzki International Artists-in-Residence Programme creates conditions for artistic work at the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe. Its aim is to support artistic processes, cooperation and research in dialogue with the foundation’s history, educational and social activities.

The following interviews have been conducted by the curator of the residency, Jonna Sokołowska, and feature the artists participating in the first edition of the Konrad and Paweł Jarodzki Artist-in-Residence Programme in Krzyżowa (2023): Ulufer Çelik, Daniel Mikulski, Andrea Pichl, Jacek Zachodny.

Caring About Each Other in Times of Unrest and Violence

Carefully curated by Rita Dabi-Farkas and Viktoriá Popovics, the show referred to the act of caring as something common among all human beings, whether on an individual (self-care) or a collective (for example, caring for our elders) level. On a larger scale, care has relevant global dimensions, such as care migration, which often occurs in Eastern Europe and in other economically less developed countries. Handle with Care addressed the many faces of our increasingly unstable world, where the gaps between social and economic classes are becoming wider and wider, exposing the vulnerable to new challenges and adversities. At the same time, the exhibition aimed to describe and criticize the cracks in our social and economic systems in a poetic manner, something that was reflected in the chosen artworks so well that I often had to stop and weep for a few minutes before continuing my visit.
