♻ Six months in service for the ReturMobil fleet in Malta! 🎉

In building a circular economy, social responsibility plays just as crucial a role as technological innovation.

Launched in March this year with a fleet of 6 ReturMobil vehicles, the service has visited the households of eligible islanders—either senior citizens or individuals living with disabilities—over 22,000 times in the past six months.

🇲🇹 The door-to-door BCRS collection is provided by the Maltese government in collaboration with the public cleansing agency Clean Malta. The scheme specifically targets residents aged 60 and over, as well as Blue Badge holders.

🚚 Eligible users can request home pickup free of charge, receiving vouchers redeemable at local supermarkets in exchange for their returned containers.

Our innovation proves that DRS can also foster social inclusion by bringing container return opportunities directly to those who find it harder to reach stationary RVMs due to age or health conditions.

We are proud that through ReturMobil®, we aren't just protecting the planet—we are also creating real social value with our unique solution, making everyday life easier for senior citizens and those in need of assistance. 🌍💚

Traditional, regional counting centers have long played an important role in processing manually collected bottles. In this standard process, intact bottles and cans are transported to a central facility to be counted and eventually compacted into recycling material. However, because uncompacted containers take up a lot of space, this method often requires larger trucks and more trips, which naturally impacts logistics and environmental footprints. 🚚

This is where ReturMobil’s 5-in-1 solution steps in to streamline the process! 💡

Our approach is designed to be as compact, eco-friendly, and user-friendly as possible. With mRVM, everything happens right on the spot: counting, error-free administration, compaction, vouchering, and the immediate payment of the redemption fee directly to the retailer or collection point. 🤝

The efficiency gains are significant:

A single vehicle can seamlessly collect up to 10,000 already compacted bottles across 7-10 pick-up points.

By compacting on-site rather than transporting empty bottles, we reduce transport volume requirements by 85%. 📉

This highly optimized logistics flow saves valuable time, lowers operational costs, and significantly reduces our carbon footprint. 🌍🍃

It was a great pleasure to present and exhibit at the EDRSA Conference in Bratislava yesterday. The prestigious event brought together experts and DRS managers from all around the World and Europe. 🌍
🌟In the fourth session of this prestigious event, we delivered a memorable presentation focusing on the operational challenges of Deposit Return Schemes (DRS). Our address both explored and provided solutions to the critical issues that system operators will need to resolve in the coming years. These include, for example, the logistics of surplus bottle volumes generated by mass tourism, collection management for out-of-home locations, servicing the collection needs of small retail stores, and coordinating community- and social-based bottle collection initiatives.🍃
