There is something special about the moment when someone plays a jaw harp for the very first time.

These portraits capture that moment. Different faces, countries, cultures and stories – yet the same spark in their eyes, the same sense of wonder when this small, ancient instrument suddenly comes to life.

These images are especially meaningful to me because I know what happened just seconds before each photograph was taken. I showed them how to hold the instrument, how to pluck it – and then came that first sound. Something changed in their faces: surprise, joy, the feeling of stepping into a new world.

Some of them have been playing the jaw harp for years, yet I can still see the same magic.

Perhaps that is what I love most about this series: so many different people, connected by one of humanity’s oldest instruments – and by that simple, timeless joy of discovering a new sound. Thanks to all the wonderful people who came to play with me during last weekend. I love you guys.

It was such a blast to share the vibe of Leskowsky Hangszergyűjtemény at Sziget Festival Art Garden this year too. Thank you all and especially Medence Csoport Photo: Bakó Studio

We had such a wonderful afternoon with almost 100 people who joined the Doromb workshop. Thank you. ❤️❤️ Művészetek Völgye Fesztivál

We are super proud to participate as guimbarde maker at this wonderful festival.

Luckily, the past few days have been diverse and exciting as usual. We hosted an instrument picnic for families in the park, took part in the Night of Museums, made and shipped a whole bunch of jaw harps to every corner of the world, performed at some amazing venues, and I even put my son on a plane to America. See you in France, Germany and in Hungary this summer. Love.

On tour with .band Venice and Lugano.
