We are proud to see Gideon Horváth among the artists highlighted in Zérodeux’s review of the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art.
At the Musée des Tissus, Horváth’s human figures made from beeswax appear in precarious positions, proposing vulnerability not as weakness but as something to embrace. As Zérodeux notes, the works form part of a section concerned with reconnecting people and imagining alternative ways of being together.
Across two locations in Lyon, Horváth presents new works that continue his exploration of the body, vulnerability, desire and transformation, using beeswax as a material that can melt, deform, preserve and change.

A new short film by Áron Lőrincz & Luca Bonta, premiering at Longtermhandstand
2026.10.08 Thursday 19:00
A modern day pirate mutinies against the madness of the world, alongside his cat and fellow conspirator, in search of their own harmony. An experimental portrait of a painter asking how we can love the noisy, vertiginous life of the city without becoming part of its madness ourselves.

A highlight from the final week of ON PAPER: Ciprian Mureșan’s Il Romanzo di Cipollino (Cepelica), a sequence of 15 pencil drawings from 2006.
The title takes us back to Gianni Rodari’s 1951 children’s novel Il Romanzo di Cipollino, in which an onion boy confronts an absurd world ruled by powerful fruits and vegetables. Behind its playful surface lies a story of inequality, authority, resistance and solidarity that became particularly popular across Eastern Europe.
It is a fitting source for Mureșan, whose practice repeatedly takes familiar images and cultural references and places them into new historical and political contexts.

For ON PAPER, Botond Keresztesi turns the gaze onto himself with two new pastel self portraits.
Maybe all of us are smoke from an invisible cigar plays with a familiar Surrealist paradox: an image that immediately recalls René Magritte’s pipe, while the cigar itself carries a long artistic mythology, from Marcel Duchamp and his ever present cigar to generations of artists who turned smoking into part of the construction of the artistic persona.
In Painter selfie, the artist appears inside his own visual universe. The image could almost be read as a contemporary homage to Urs Fischer, where self portraiture, distortion and the absurd collide with the everyday logic of the selfie.
Art history enters, gets filtered through the internet, and comes back as Botond.
Both works are part of ON PAPER, now in its final week at Longtermhandstand.

Opening tonight in Prague: Julie Béna at Parnas / KodlContemporary
We are happy to see Julie Béna presenting new works in Le Chat Noir, an exhibition with Mark Ther, curated by Natálie Kubíková.
Created for the historic interiors of Parnas, Béna’s new works continue her longstanding engagement with theatre, literature, cabaret and popular culture, exploring identity, female representation, gender roles and the ways we perform ourselves.
For the exhibition, Béna presents new glass objects in the form of lamps, bringing light into the scenography of Parnas while echoing its history as a place of gathering, nightlife and cultural exchange.

We are happy to see Áron Lőrincz taking over the main stage of Brain Bar 2026.
For this year’s edition, Áron transformed the festival’s main stage into a large scale painting installation at the Magyar Zene Háza in Budapest.
Brain Bar is Europe’s largest festival on the future, bringing together scientists, technologists, artists, thinkers and cultural figures to explore the questions shaping our world.
Created specifically for Brain Bar, Áron’s installation turns the stage itself into an artwork and brings his distinctive visual universe into an entirely new context.
Áron Lőrincz’s upcoming solo exhibition at Longtermhandstand opens in October.
Stay with the pirate!

GIDEON HORVÁTH AT THE 18TH LYON BIENNALE.
New works by Gideon Horváth are now on view across two locations at the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, curated by Catherine Nichols.
Working with beeswax, Horváth transforms a material associated with preservation, vulnerability and transformation into figures that feel caught between states. In Prosperity!, a new work created in 2026, the body becomes a site where desire, power and fragility meet.
