It’s suddenly September, and the change of seasons is already in the air.
My wall calendar features the globe amaranth flower, known in Bali as ratna. All important rituals are incomplete without this humble flower. For me, it’s a symbol of resilience and devotion. 🙏✨💜

One of the most delightful aspects of teaching is the ongoing process of learning and discovery it brings.
Just last month, I had the pleasure of hosting a private workshop for a wonderful lady visiting from Beijing. During her morning walk, she happened upon a charming sprig adorned with vibrant berries and brought it to our session. Inspired by this beautiful and unexpected find, I couldn’t resist capturing its unique form in a quick sketch right then and there! 😍💚❣️

A beautiful day by the lotus pond 💖🌸🥰
Despite my busy schedule this month, I carved out a few days to work en plein air. Even the unfinished, imperfect quick sketches I made in the open air have a charm of their own. Looking at them, I remember the entire day in every detail: the movement of light and shadow, the splashing water, the curves of the flowers. Finally, just when I felt like I’d truly become part of the landscape, a red dragonfly landed on my toe, stayed there for a few precious moments, and flew away. But the fairytale feeling remained! 💫✨🌸

Today, on the first of July, I decided to pause and think about what beauty really means. Is it just certain patterns in nature that change how our brains work, or does it come from something deeper and spiritual? How often do we truly see and appreciate beauty, instead of just glancing at it?
