Sustaining Our Community Buildings
Major refurbishment works are now underway at Athboy Convent Community centre marking another important step in securing the long term future of the centre. The current flat roof works are part of a significant investment supported by Meath County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
Further improvement works to the flat roofs at St James Hall are also planned through the Community Amenity Project Scheme 2026, with these works expected to commence shortly.
Our work does not stop with the roofs. We are now planning how to make the best use of the spaces beneath them, provide better facilities for increasing numbers of users, improve access and exit routes, conserve energy and reduce water waste.
While these two projects progress, Athboy Development Forum continues to pursue further grants, sponsorship and community fundraising to repair, refurbish and develop both buildings, keeping them sustainable and available to our community well into the future.

Athboy Development Forum is delighted that major refurbishment works are now underway at Athboy Convent Community centre.
We sincerely appreciate this investment by Meath County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, replacing the original flat roofs, upgrading the glazed corridor and addressing long standing leaks at the centre.
Every month over 3,500 people come through our doors, from in excess of 60 community groups. Users include sporting groups, those attending our weekly social dances, quarterly Irish Blood Transfusion clinics, Special Hands and Autism groups as well as those using the remote working hub or rooms for meetings, courses and web conferencing.
It is "Business as usual" during these works.
