The children in room 1 in our CETNS service have been exploring Autumn. They have harvested sunflower seeds from the sunflower we grew in our garden. They explored a sensory tray full of the seeds, barley, apples and conkers. They used the pestle and mortar to grind the sunflower seeds and barley, they noticed that the mortar was oily after the sunflower seeds and dusty after the barley.
They spoke about how the sunflower seeds are pressed into oil for cooking and the barley into flour for baking.
