🚌 Out & About from Castleross Nursing Home - PART 1

Our residents love their bus trips, and there’s always plenty of interest in who gets the front seat 😄

Here’s the first selection of photos from some of our recent adventures, taking in the beautiful Cooley Peninsula, Lough an Leagh, Flagstaff, Omeath and Carlingford. ⛰️

🎱 Bingo & a Little Pampering ✂️😊

We enjoyed a great game of bingo in Creevy House at Castleross Nursing Home this week, with a little pampering happening at the same time🥰

Our hairdresser Laura was busy looking after the gentlemen's haircuts, and Jemmy certainly wasn’t going to let a haircut get in the way of his bingo, enjoying the best of both worlds 😄

And of course, our wonderful Dympna, at an amazing 104 years young, joined in too and was happily managing her bingo card all by herself. ❤️

A lovely afternoon of fun, concentration, conversation and plenty of smiles.

🎂 A Very Special 102nd Birthday at Castleross Nursing Home Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

What a wonderful celebration we had at Castleross Nursing Home on Sunday September 27th as our lovely resident May celebrated her incredible 102nd birthday 🎂

May was surrounded by members of our Castleross team as we marked this very special milestone with a beautiful birthday cake 🎂lovingly prepared by our Kitchen Team, along with cards, gifts, lots of good wishes and, of course, a very special rendition of Happy Birthday! 🎶

And a 102nd birthday comes with another lovely honour. Each year after turning 100, residents in Ireland receive a congratulatory letter signed by the Uachtarán na hÉireann / President of Ireland Catherine Connolly and a special commemorative coin to mark their birthday.

Happy 102nd Birthday, May ❤️ It was our absolute pleasure to celebrate such a remarkable occasion with you. We hope you enjoyed every minute of your very special day 🎂 🎈

What a proud day at Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross, as our Residents were officially presented with the prestigious Macra na Tuaithe Cup – the overall prize at the Castleblayney Show

We were delighted to welcome Castleblayney Show President, Mary Flanagan with Catherine Flanagan and Pamela Sheridan to present the Cup and certificates and celebrate this fantastic achievement with our Residents.

This award was the culmination of months of creativity, preparation and hard work by our Residents, supported throughout by our wonderful Activities Coordinators, Frances and Amy. Their encouragement, patience and enthusiasm played such an important part in bringing out the creativity and talents of our Residents.

A special thank you also to Samantha from our Castleross coffee shop, who helped Residents create their beautiful decoupage pieces.

The Castleblayney Show has become a very special part of our Activities Programme, in fact, when one Show finishes, ideas and preparations for the next show begin

Congratulations to our Residents and everyone involved – the Macra na Tuaithe Cup is now proudly at home in Castleross Nursing Home

We had a wonderful afternoon here at Castleross Nursing Home last Wednesday when the fabulous Colum Luckie joined us in the Coffee Shop to entertain our residents with some wonderful music.

There was plenty of singing, toe-tapping and smiling, all enjoyed with a lovely cup of tea or coffee. ☕

And we even had a very special musical accompaniment. One of our residents picked up the spoons and joined Colum for a little performance of their own. We couldn't resist sharing this short clip.

And then there was our wonderful Dympna, aged 104, who was up dancing and thoroughly enjoying the music. 💃

It really was one of those afternoons that reminds us that music has no age limit — it brings everyone together, gets the toes tapping and puts a smile on your face.

A huge thank you to Colum for bringing so much joy to our Coffee Shop, and to everyone who joined in and made the afternoon so special.

🎲 A Little Pre-Dinner Competition Castleross Nursing Home🎲

Kevin and Eamon enjoyed some board game fun in Creevy House while waiting for their dinner the other day —and it looks like the competition was well and truly on 😄

Snakes & Ladders and Ludo are firm favourites here at Castleross Nursing Home, bringing plenty of fun, friendly rivalry and laughter to the table.

The only question is… who won? 🐍🪜🏆

⚽ FOOTBALL FUN AT BROOMFIELD HOUSE in Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross. ⚽

A little friendly competition, plenty of concentration… and lots of laughs was the order of the day when our Residents at Broomfield House, Castleross Nursing Home, enjoyed a few fun football games with Katie, one of our Healthcare Assistants.

Activities like these are a great way to get moving while having fun together – encouraging upper-body movement and helping to maintain hand-eye coordination, all while enjoying a little healthy competition 💪⚽

A big thank you to Katie for organising the games and to our residents for being such great sports. 👏

Our residents at Castleross enjoyed a very special afternoon tea in the beautiful Broomfield House.

Our wonderful kitchen team prepared a delicious selection of homemade treats, making the occasion extra special.

The tables were beautifully decorated, with lovely cutlery and all the little touches that made it feel like a proper afternoon tea.

And when it came to choosing a drink, there was something for everyone — a crisp bottle of Prosecco 🥂 or a lovely hot cuppa ☕️.

Good food, beautiful surroundings and, most importantly, wonderful company made for a truly lovely afternoon.

Making Castleross Nursing Home - "A Home from Home" 🏠

Here at Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross, we believe that a resident’s room should feel like their own space – somewhere they can surround themselves with the memories, interests and personal touches that mean something special to them. ❤️

Our resident John recently decided that he would like to share some of his own poetry by displaying it on his bedroom door for everyone to enjoy.

Working with our Activities Coordinator, Amy, John added a little inspiration from nature, with flowers and greenery completing his very personal display.🌿

And here he is, proudly showing us his wonderful Poetry Door 📖

It’s these individual touches that help make Castleross more than a nursing home – they help make it home.
