What if you stopped treating yourself like a work in progress?

We talk so much about becoming the “best version” of ourselves.

More confident.
More disciplined.
More productive.
More successful.
More healed.

And while there’s nothing wrong with wanting to grow, sometimes we become so focused on who we’re trying to become that we forget to give any credit to who we are right now.

Growth doesn’t have to come from constantly feeling like you’re not enough yet.

✨You can want more for yourself and appreciate yourself as you are.
✨You can have goals and be proud of how far you’ve already come.
✨You can work on yourself without treating yourself like a problem that needs fixing.

Maybe the goal isn’t always to become a better version of you.
Sometimes it’s learning to be a little kinder to the version that already exists. 🧠🫶🏻⚡️

Ever catch yourself thinking, “I’ll be happy when…”? 🤍

When I reach the goal.
When I achieve the next thing.
When life looks a little more like I imagined it would.

I’ll admit, I’m very guilty of this too. 🙈😅

We can become so focused on what’s next that we forget to appreciate what’s now.

💭 There’s actually psychology behind it. 💭
Hedonic adaptation means that even the things we once really wanted can quickly become our new normal and suddenly, we’re looking towards the next goal again.

Having goals isn’t the problem. ✨
The problem is when we make our happiness conditional on reaching them.

⬇️ Let’s try remind ourselves more ⬇️
I can be excited about where I’m going AND appreciate where I am right now.

Both can exist at the same time. 🧠✨🫶🏻

Your mind can be convincing but that doesn’t mean it’s always right. 🧠✨

Thoughts come and go. Some are helpful, some are uncomfortable, some are completely untrue.

You don’t have to fight every thought or force yourself to think positively - sometimes it’s enough to notice it, question it and choose what you do next.

A thought is a thought. It isn’t automatically a fact. 👏🏻

Things I’ve learnt as a psychology coach that I wish more people knew… 🤎

✨ 1. Confidence usually comes after you do the scary thing, not before:
Waiting until you feel ready can keep you stuck.

✨ 2. Your thoughts don’t have to be positive for you to move forward:
You don’t need to eliminate nerves or doubt - it’s learning how to respond to them.

✨ 3. Being hard on yourself doesn’t automatically make you work harder:
Self-criticism and high standards are not the same thing.

✨ 4. One bad moment doesn’t undo months of progress:
Progress is rarely as linear as we want it to be.

✨ 5. You can be nervous AND ready:
Those two things can exist at the same time.

✨ 6. Rest is productive too:
More isn’t always better.

✨ 7. The way you speak to yourself matters:
Especially when things aren’t going your way.

✨ 8. The strongest mindset isn’t one that never wobbles:
It’s one that knows how to reset.

And I’m still learning these myself too!!!! 🧠🫶🏻

September mindset check-in ✔️✔️✔️

A new month, a new season and a good time to check in - not just with your goals, but with the mindset you’re bringing into them.

Because progress isn’t only about doing more. Sometimes it’s about responding better, resting when you need to, noticing the small wins and making space for the things that make you happy outside of performance and sport too.

What are you adding to your September checklist? 📝🩷

A summer that took me outside of my comfort zone, shifted my perspective and taught me more than I ever expected. 🌍✨🇹🇿

About people. About gratitude. About resilience. About what really matters.

Experiences like these don’t just grow you as a person, they shape the way you show up for others too. I came home with a different perspective, a deeper appreciation for the power of connection and lessons I know will stay with me both personally and in the work I do as a coach.

Sometimes the biggest growth happens far outside the places we expect to find it. 🤍

Most people underestimate the power of a single thought.

But your brain doesn’t treat thoughts as “just thoughts.”

Every thought creates a ripple effect.

💭 A positive thought can:
• Increase confidence
• Reduce anxiety
• Improve focus
• Influence behaviour
• Change how you respond to challenges

On the other hand, one negative thought can quickly spiral into self-doubt, tension and overthinking.

This doesn’t mean you need to think positively all the time.

It means becoming intentional about which thoughts you choose to feed.

Next time you notice your inner dialogue, ask yourself:

➡️ Is this thought helping me become the person I want to be?

Because confidence isn’t something you suddenly find.

It’s built one thought at a time.

✨ Save this as a reminder for the days you need it most.

A result can give you feedback.
But it should never decide your confidence, worth or future.

The most successful individuals learn to ask:
🌟 • What went well?
🌟 • What can I improve?
🌟 • What did this teach me?
🌟 • What do I need moving forward?

Because growth doesn’t come from controlling every outcome. It comes from learning how to respond to them.

One result never defines you but your response to it can shape you. 🧠✨🫶🏻🌱

Officially graduated with my Masters in Applied Psychology (Positive & Coaching Psychology) from University College Cork 🎓✨✅

This was never just about a qualification - it was about deepening the work I love.

Coming from a background in Mental Health Nursing, I’ve always been drawn to understanding people. This Masters allowed me to build on that and blend everything I’m passionate about - psychology, performance, coaching and helping others. ❤️

Everything I do now through The Performance Mind Coach is built on this.

Because true success is flourishing in who you are, not just what you achieve. 🧠🌟💗🌱🫶🏻

Everyone is motivated when there’s a competition coming up.

There’s a goal.
A deadline.
A reason to push.

But what about after?

When it’s quiet.
When no one’s watching.
When there’s nothing forcing you to show up.

That’s where the difference is made.
