Pygmalion 26 âš
Monday 19 October
https://bit.ly/4ivBWUO
Pygmalion 26 is an Irish-language translation of GB Shawâs classic political comedy. This production takes Shawâs work and brings it to Belfast 2026.
Pygmalion deals with social class and its identification through accent. We are taking that theme and running it through Shawâs prism of class to address the question of who can call themselves a native Irish speaker. We will be creating this with the humour that Shaw brings to Pygmalion, and the vibrant wit and linguistic culture that surrounds us in the urban Gaeltacht of West Belfast.
English language surtitles
Pygmalion 26 is aistriĂșchĂĄn Gaeilge Ă© ar shaothar clasaiceach polaitiĂșil an Ășdair G. B. Shaw. Tugann an lĂ©iriĂș seo saothar Shaw go BĂ©al Feirste na bliana 2026.
PlĂ©ann Pygmalion le ceist an aicme shĂłisialta agus leis an dĂłigh a n-aithnĂtear an aicme sin trĂ bhlas cainte. TĂĄimid ag tabhairt faoin tĂ©ama sin agus ĂĄ chĂoradh trĂ phriosma aicme Shaw, chun aghaidh a thabhairt ar an gceist: cĂ© aige a bhfuil sĂ© de cheart a rĂĄ gur cainteoir dĂșchais Gaeilge Ă©?
TĂĄ sĂ© i gceist againn tabhairt faoin gceist seo leis an ngreann agus an ĂorĂłin a bhaineann le Pygmalion fĂ©in, agus leis an mbeocht, an ghrinn agus an cultĂșr teanga atĂĄ thart orainn i nGaeltacht uirbeach Iarthar BhĂ©al Feirste.
