Hi Folks, I am busy packing and very very happy. I go to my new home on Sunday.
Message from Carmen; I am very sad. My foster mum and the DAR people all told me that I am a lovely young cat and I would have a few offers of nice homes. NOT ONE PERSON HAS SHOWN ANY INTEREST IN ME. I really would love a nice loving home. I will be very good and cuddle up to you and love you. Please there has to be a home for me out there.
Meet Carmen, a gorgeous 10 month old female who is ready to find a family of her own. Carmen is full of personality! She is friendly and affectionate, absolutely loves head rubs, ear scratches and lots of attention. She will happily come over for cuddles and will often curl up beside you on the sofa. If there is a chance to claim a bed she will take it, usually sprawled out in the most adorable position possible. She is also a little bundle of energy and fun. Carmen runs around like a tiny goat, loves playing with toys and is especially obsessed with chasing bouncing balls.
Carmen would be happiest as the only cat in the home as she doesn’t get on well with other cats and will chase them. She would thrive in a home where she can be the centre of attention and have plenty of playtime and affection. Unknown around dogs but we think best not. While Carmen has been indoor most of her life, she is curious about outside, sits in the door or window looking out so indoor initially and then a mix of indoor / outdoor would be best for her.

A number of videos are forming on social media of young boys setting dogs on cats and killing them in the Belmayne Area Dublin 13.

Owners have reported it to the Garda so just be warned if you are living in this area with cats.

Four little ladies came into our care on May 16th, 2026. They were rescued just in the nick of time from an uncertain fate - their lives were in imminent danger. They were estimated to be 5/6 weeks old at the time.

FAST FORWARD ⏩ They are now FULLY VACCINATED, Microchipped, and have been treated for pesty parasites. 🪱

They have been christened 'The Geraldines' and are in foster care in a busy family household with other cats & dogs.

Playful, friendly, and mischievous describes them best. We would absolutely love it if they were adopted together 😊.

Buttons is missing from her home in the Skerries Rock estate from the Crescent.

Her owner is terribly worried about her as there have been (3) other cats that have gone missing from the area around the same timeframe.

A Place to Call Home

High above the North Strand Road,
in a little garden, hidden away,
a young mother watches over five kittens
as they face another day.

No warm home, no cosy bed,
just grass, metal and open sky.
She keeps her little family close,
while cars and people hurry by.

Five tiny lives, so small and fragile,
doing their best to survive -
a homeless mother and her babies,
simply hoping to stay alive.

May someone see them, hear their plea,
and give them somewhere safe and warm - a little place to call their own,
where they can live without alarm.

➡️ We want to get them into foster care so that they can eventually find homes of their own and definitely stop the breeding cycle. ❌

This is what we believe happened to this small young little lady. Fortunately, a very kind member of the public came to her rescue and contacted DAR.

She isn't microchipped nor belongs to any near neighbours. She is a sweet little one and we are looking for a foster home for her while we get her veterinary work done.

We are overflowing with cats & kittens at the moment so could really use some help. 😩

A VERY GENEROUS DONATION FROM MARION & ARTHUR - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! 🙏

In July of this year, we received a message concerning a cat situation that got out of control at a family's home in O'Meath. We spoke to a family member and said 'YES' we would help.

Today, we received a very generous donation of €1,000 for lending the use of our equipment to trap the cats. The family took care of the rest including paying for the neutering themselves.

We want to acknowledge this super family, their kindness & generosity.

We occasionally get angry messages from people who are just too impatient and don't realise we are a small rescue with limited resources who relentlessly do rescue work every day of the year.

So, when we received this lovely message from the family, we were chuffed and extremely appreciative. ☺️

'I cannot praise Drogheda Animal Rescue too highly. Prompt reply and professional attitude. Very understanding and helpful - not judgemental.

A volunteer drove from Drogheda to Omeath on a Sunday to drop off 3 large crates, two traps and a transfer cage, as well as 2 cat carriers.

I have dealt with several charities during my 25 years career as a vet, and never have I come across one as professional as Drogheda Animal Rescue.
