| 1:1 Private Personal Training 💪
A lot of the fitness space on Instagram is geared towards shredded before-and-afters.
Believe me, I’ve done this too. People engage with them more. 📸
But for the average PT client, that isn’t really the goal. Roughly 1 in 50 of my clients would even consider getting photoshoot lean.
So what does success actually look like for the average person?
I’d argue it looks a lot like my client Kieran. 👏🏼
Kieran wanted to lose some weight, yes. But more importantly, he wanted to learn how to train — to the point where he could walk into a gym by himself and feel confident in what he was doing.
He’d always been active through MMA and class-based training, but had never felt confident enough to train by himself in a gym.
Ultimately, he wanted to learn what he needed to learn, have a plan to follow and feel confident enough to continue training on his own.
So we used a descending approach to his PT sessions:
Month 1: 3 PT sessions, 0 alone
Month 2: 2 PT sessions, 0 alone
Month 3: 1 PT session, 2 alone
He also spent those three months learning how to track and manage his nutrition. 🍎
This gave me more time with him at the beginning to teach, coach and adjust his training. Then we gradually pulled back as he became more confident and needed less from me.
Over those 12 weeks, Kieran lost 8 kg. 💪🏼
But that wasn’t the biggest win.
At the end of the three months, he felt ready to go it alone. I gave him a training plan and an app to track his own sessions.
He finished up around two months ago, so I messaged him this week to see how he was getting on.
He’s still training. Still tracking his food. Still maintaining his weight. And he’s figured out roughly where his maintenance calories are.
He even has notions of coming back next year to really push for the abs 😂💪🏼
But the main thing is that he can now walk into a gym, manage his own training and feel confident doing it without needing me there.
That was the goal from day one. 🙌🏼
If you’d like to build that same confidence with your training, get in touch with us at Physio Performance. 🤝🏼

Scans are important—but they're only one piece of the puzzle🦴
An MRI or X-ray can give us valuable information, but it doesn't always explain why you're in pain or what's stopping you from moving well 🚫
That's why, at Physio Performance, we look at the whole picture💯
Your symptoms, your movement, your strength, your lifestyle, and most importantly, your goals 💪
We treat people, not just scans, so you leave with a clear plan that's tailored to you—not just your image🚀
If you're struggling with pain, an injury, or you're unsure what your scan really means, we're here to help🤗

What’s the difference between these two lateral raises? 🤔
A standard standing lateral raise is a great exercise for building your side delts 💪🏻🔥
But leaning against a bench can help keep your body in a better position, reduce momentum, and place more tension through the side delt without needing to use heavy weights 🎯
Set yourself against the bench and raise your arm directly out to the side. Aim for around 60°, pause briefly at the top, then lower the weight under control 👌
Done properly, these are seriously humbling—they don't look difficult, but your shoulders will definitely let you know they're working! 😅🔥
Give them a try in your next shoulder session 💪🏻

If you can't comfortably perform an incline dumbbell press, try this instead 👇🏻
💡 The floor press can be a great alternative if pressing through a larger range of motion irritates your shoulders.
Because the floor limits how far your elbows can travel behind your body, it reduces the range of motion at the shoulder while still allowing you to train your chest and triceps effectively 💪🏻
🎯 Lower the dumbbells under control, let your upper arms gently touch the floor, pause for a second, then press back up 🙌🏻
This isn't a guaranteed fix for shoulder pain, so don't force it if it still hurts🚫
Instead, get really strong at the movements you can perform comfortably rather than repeatedly pushing through pain💯
Remember: pain doesn't always mean you have to stop training—it often means you need to train smarter. ✅
