If you’re importing a vehicle customs can feel confusing. We are customs agents and we will look after the whole process for you.
A customs declaration is the official legal document used to tell Revenue what you’re importing or exporting — and it’s how they decide what taxes are owed.
✅ Every import from outside the EU needs a customs declaration - this is how Revenue calculates duty, VAT, and reliefs (if applicable).
✅ Value, commodity codes & documents matter - the wrong value or commodity code = higher charges.
✅ Mistakes are expensive if you overpay and it's difficult to reclaim later.
✅ Preparation saves money. A well prepared declaration means you pay what’s legally due and nothing more.
If you’re new to importing, getting the declaration right from the start makes all the difference.

As customs agents, we often get questions about the V5C document when dealing with imports from the UK. Let me share some crucial information to ensure a smooth process for you!
The V5C, Log book, or vehicle registration certificate is a key document you'll need for importing your new vehicle. This document contains essential details about the car, including ownership history, and you'll need it to register your vehicle in Ireland at the VRT appointment.
Top Tip: When purchasing a vehicle from England for example (see V5C photo below), make sure to get the full V5C from the seller! 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝟓 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐕𝐋𝐀 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 '𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭'.
