THISISPOPBABY

Last night, on Culture Night, we gathered in the studio with a small group of friends for a reading of Danny & Chantelle (Still Here) — 18 years to the day since the play was first performed.

Eighteen years ago, Phillip McMahon’s debut play premiered in PoD nightclub as part of Dublin Fringe and it set the town alight. And from that, THISISPOPBABY was born.

Last night felt like a gorgeous full-circle moment. To sit together, read the play again, and remember the spark that started it all.

A salute to the D&C Popbaby OGs - Phillip McMahon, Jenny Jennings, Georgina McKevitt, Deirdre Molloy, Sarah Jane Shiels, Louise Kiely, Cian O’Brien, Sally Foran and Nik Quaife - and to everyone who has been part of the wild ride since.

Here’s to the plays that change things. To outsider voices. To new audiences. To breaking the mould.

And to whatever comes next.

Tell your Boston crew – tickets for the US Premiere of our smash-hit show WAKE are on sale now! www.waketheshow.com
Spread the word to your cousins and friends across the Atlantic: Boston’s biggest party since Tea, WAKE comes to the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre in February 2027.

Following electric, sold-out runs in Dublin, London’s West End, Manchester’s Aviva Studios, and Sydney, this is the first in a series of exciting announcements for WAKE in 2027.

Tour generously supported by Culture Ireland.

It's just over a week since the end of our national tour of Emer Dineen's 0800-CUPID, and the confetti has just about settled. Before the final sequins get packed away we want to pause to mark the moment. This time around we played to over 2,500 people across 16 fabulous performances, with 16 standing ovations at six venues in six different counties, celebrating three birthdays along the way. To top it off, we raised €5,500 raised for dementia charities!
All down to the hard work and dedication of one incredible team. Take a bow, Team Cupid 💘 It was an honour to dedicate all of these very special performances to the memories of Peter 'Denis' Dineen.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who came, supported, and spread the word; to our fantastic venue partners Project Arts Centre The Everyman, Cork Cork Midsummer Festival Town Hall Theatre glór Hawk's Well Sligo Siamsa Tíre; and to The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon for supporting the tour.

Our fundraiser for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Engaging Dementia will remain open for another few days, for anyone who still wishes to contribute.
