Community Afterschools Project (CASPr) is a community development agency in Dublin’s North inner City established in 1995.
RCN: 20166953 | CRO 253022 | CHY 22177 We are an After Schools Project based in the North East Inner City of Dublin. We have 2 projects that cater for the children of up to 6 local schools. We also have an accredited FETAC Training centre where participants train in FETAC levels 4,5 & 6 Childcare. We also run a community creche 5 mornings per week to allow parents in training to attend.

Our after-school sessions are all about getting active, playing together and making the most of our time outdoors.
Child poverty can have consequences that last well beyond childhood, affecting children’s health, education and future opportunities.
Following the publication of a recent report highlighting concerns around child poverty in Ireland, Dr Tom O’Brien, CEO of CASPr, spoke to RTÉ Radio 1 about what these pressures can look like for children growing up in Dublin’s North Inner City.
As Tom explains, children may not necessarily recognise that they are living in poverty, but the stress experienced at home and within the wider community can have a profound impact on them.
At CASPr, the aim is to provide a safe and calming environment where children can have some respite, enjoy a snack, get support with their homework and, importantly, feel supported.
CASPr has been doing this work for 30 years, helping to buffer the impact of poverty and the challenges children and families experience.

🦌 A very special start to the new school year at CASPr!
Over the past couple of days, the children had the chance to explore Phoenix Park and get up close to its famous deer. From watching them roam around to seeing them from just a few metres away, it was such a memorable experience for everyone! 🌿🦌
Lots of excitement, curiosity and plenty of happy faces along the way 💛

FOUND – Baby Boy Domestic Rabbit
We had a slightly unexpected visitor at CASPr today!
CASPr staff found this lovely, gentle little fella hopping about on the North Circular Road, across from the Spar on Belvedere Avenue. He’s now safe, comfortable and being very well looked after while we try to track down his family.

CASPr and CDETB are delighted to announce that the Childcare QQI Level 4 – Preparation for ELC Stage 1, will be running again in September 2026. This one-year, part-time course will run on Mondays in a supportive learning environment with CASPr in Porland Square.

🎙️ Looking back on the United Voices journey 💛
In this final reflection, the facilitators behind the project look back on the incredible experience of working alongside our children and creating a space where every voice was heard, every idea was welcomed, and every child was encouraged to grow in confidence through play, creativity, and conversation 🌍✨

☀️ Summer at CASPr is in full swing! 💛
Over the past few weeks, our children have enjoyed a fantastic range of trips and activities, from outdoor adventures and sports in Navan to visits to Pirates Cove, Clonfert Farm, and fun-filled days in local parks 🌿⚽🏴☠️
With one more week of Summer Programme still to enjoy, we can't wait to make even more amazing memories together! 🌟
