đ¨ New RSA research highlights the continuing role of alcohol in serious and fatal collisions on Irish roads.
Analysis of surviving drivers involved in fatal and serious injury collisions between 2021 and 2025 found that 63% were tested for alcohol, and of those tested, 7% returned a positive result.

3. Log in to http://ndls.rsa.ie with your Verified MyGovID
4. Complete your application and upload all required documents together, so everything can be processed at once

NDLS is the new home for International Driving Permits
You can apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in person at any NDLS centre
1. Book an appointment by calling 0818 919 090
2. Complete the IDP application form before attending your appointment
3. You will need to bring your valid Irish or EU/EEA driving licence, application form, passport sized photo and *âŹ15 fee to your appointment

⢠Must have sat a driving test in the past 2 years
đĄObtaining a 4th Permit:
⢠Must have sat a driving test in the past 2 years
⢠Valid for 1 year only
đ´Obtaining a Permit (After 7+ years holding a Learner Permit):
⢠Retake the Driver Theory Test
⢠Apply for a new Learner Permit
⢠Complete EDT (12 lessons) or IBT (16â18 hrs for motorbikes) before your next driving test
