It should support your spine, encourage better sitting and help you feel at ease throughout the working day.

Waking up with a stiff neck? Your pillow height might be the problem.
Side sleepers need enough loft to fill the gap between shoulder and head — so your neck stays in line with your spine.
Too high → head tilts up, neck compresses
Too low → head drops down, neck strains
Just right → ear lines up with shoulder, spine stays neutral
Quick check: lie on your side and look in a mirror (or snap a side photo). Your neck should look like a straight continuation of your back — not kinked up or down.
Broader shoulders and firmer mattresses usually need more height. Give a new pillow a few nights before you decide.
Save this for your next pillow refresh.

Your laptop wasn’t built for all-day desk work.
When the screen sits low on the desk, you tip your head down. That “tech neck” posture loads your neck and upper back hour after hour.
The fix is simple: separate screen height from keyboard height.
Laptop flat on the desk → neck bent down
Raised screen + external keyboard → eyes forward, shoulders relaxed
Aim for the top of the screen near eye level, about an arm’s length away. Keep elbows near 90° at desk height.
Even a stable stand (or a solid stack of books) plus a basic keyboard and mouse can change how your neck feels by the end of the day.
Still working laptop-only for long sessions?

Myth Busting Monday
“Standing desks fix back pain.”
False — if you mean stand all day and the pain disappears.
When standing helps:
You alternate sit and stand (not lock into one pose)
Your screen is at eye level and elbows stay ~90°
You shift weight, move, and take short walk breaks
You’re easing out of long, static sitting
When it doesn’t:
You swap 8 hours sitting for 8 hours standing
You lock your knees or lean on the desk
Your setup is still too low/high
Pain is from a specific condition that needs proper assessment
The real win isn’t standing. It’s variation.
Sit. Stand. Move. Repeat.
A sit-stand desk is a tool — habits do the heavy lifting.
How do you split sit vs stand on workdays?

New standing desk? Avoid these common mistakes.
Swipe for don’t / do this instead:
Don’t stand all day on day one
Do ease in — start with short stands each hour
Don’t set the desk too high
Do keep elbows near 90° with relaxed shoulders
Don’t leave your monitor at sitting height
Do raise the top of the screen to eye level
Don’t lock your knees or lean on the desk
Do soft knees, weight even, stand tall
Don’t stand still the whole time
Do shift, move, and alternate sit / stand
A standing desk helps when you use it with good setup and variety — not endurance.
Which mistake were you making?

Staring at a screen all day? Your eyes (and neck) need a reset.
Try the 20-20-20 rule:
Every 20 minutes → look 20 feet away → for 20 seconds.
Use that pause to sit tall, drop your shoulders, and unclench your jaw. Small breaks protect your eyes and stop the slow slump that builds at a home desk.
Set a timer. Your future self will thank you.
Save this for your next work session.

End-of-Day Reset Ritual
Don’t carry desk tension into your evening.
4-step wind-down before you shut the laptop
1. Shoulder rolls
10 slow rolls back, then 10 forward. Drop the “ear-to-shoulder” hunch from calls and typing.
2. Hip flexor stretch
Stand, step one foot back into a gentle lunge. Tuck the pelvis slightly. Hold 20–30 sec each side. Sitting shortens these all day — give them length back.
3. Screen distance check
Last look: was your display too close? Aim for roughly an arm’s length, top of screen at or just below eye level. Note it so tomorrow starts better.
4. Tomorrow’s chair setup
Sit fully back. Lumbar support in the small of your back. Feet flat (or on a footrest). 20-second reset now = less 9am ache later.
Log off lighter. Show up freer.
Save this for your shutdown routine 💾
