MASER ART

Large piece commissioned last year by the RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) through , honouring and recognising the seven recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards.

This was a really enjoyable project to work on and gave me the chance to bring more of my drawing and portrait work into a large scale piece. I spend a bit of time sketching figures and working on portraiture, but it’s not something that always appears in my paintings I exhibit, so it was interesting to blend the two approaches together here.

The work was first drawn by hand on paper, then digitised, printed, and installed as a full wall drawing.

I have received my AP’s to the studio and plan to exhibit them later in the year, I’ve never shown them in Ireland.

Mural in Cherbourg France 2022 with .mallin

Some paintings on canvas and wip studio shots by .mallin in 2021. I had a great studio for a year there in Cabinteely Park, and I produced works for 2 solo shows.

Here’s a mural I painted last year, just across the road from the studio, couldn’t ask for a more convenient setup. Being able to walk materials back and forth makes the whole process smoother. .ie commissioned this piece for their new development. The project came through studio , they’re a great crew and working on other exciting pieces with them this year.
This mural is a modern take on a landscape, based on a panoramic view of the city to match the wall’s shape. I wanted to take something traditional like a landscape painting and give it a contemporary twist. You can see suggestions of a cityscape, a sun setting over Dublin, but more than anything it’s about capturing the city’s energy and movement. Things layer, align, clash, and come together, just like life in an urban setting.

Alongside the mural, I’ve also been working with and .ie on their new artist-in-residence studios as part of the development, advising on layout and functionality from a working artist’s perspective. It’s something Dublin really needs more of, so it’s been a privilege to contribute in that way.
