🎨 NEW! Du Noyer Junior is here! 📸

Do you love taking photos? Enjoy painting? Or simply find yourself wondering about the rocks, landscapes and fossils around you?

For the first time, the Du Noyer Competition is opening its doors to second-level students across the Republic of Ireland! Get into Geoscience is proud to partner with Geological Survey Ireland for this initiative.

Du Noyer Junior has two creative strands:

📷 Photography: capture an interesting aspect of Ireland’s geology through your camera.

🎨 Watercolour: create an original watercolour painting inspired by the geology and landscapes around you.

You could photograph a dramatic coastline, paint a mountain landscape, discover an unusual rock, or spot geological details hiding in the places you visit every day.

The competition is inspired by George Victor Du Noyer, a 19th-century geologist and watercolour artist who documented Ireland’s landscapes and geology.

📅 Entries are open from today – 31st October 2026

🏫 Open to second-level students in the Republic of Ireland. One entry per student.

Get into Geoscience is proud to be a campaign partner of The Geological Society’s new campaign! The campaign was launched at a fabulous event yesterday evening and celebrates the role of geoscience in our modern world. It aims to inspire the next generation of geoscientists.

If you’re interested in learning more about the value of geoscience to our society, the career opportunities within geoscience and the potential for planet-focused science, look no further.
Especially interesting is the report’s information about the latest salary and job market information, which is so important for people interested in embarking upon a geoscience career.

We highly suggest you go ahead and check out the campaign here: www.thisisgeoscience.com
