Congratulations to Matt Walsh winner of our spot prize at the launch of the Bank of Ireland Bank at Work & Financial Wellbeing Programme here at The Hatch Lab.

Thanks to everyone who dropped in to last Thursday's General Financial Clinic, and a big thank you to Martina Delahunt and the Bank of Ireland team for joining us on site to answer questions and run 1:1 appointments.
This is just the start of a full programme running through to September 2027.

From our walls to his gallery, why not join Eoin O Connor Artist this Culture Night?

Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to host artist Eoin O Connor Artist at Hatch Lab, where showcased his work during our exhibition.

Now Eoin is opening the doors of his own space for Culture Night, and we'd love to see our community there to support him.

Culture Night is all about celebrating the creativity on our doorstep, and Eoin's work is a brilliant example of that.

Ahead of tomorrow's workshop, meet the other two people who'll be in the room.

Terence White, our Artist-in-Residence, trained as an actor at the The Gaiety School of Acting and then as a theatre director with Druid Theatre

He directed theatre for 8 years, then changed course entirely and became a filmmaker. His short films include Skates, which won the Cork Film Centre Script Award, and his documentary Wagon Wheels was broadcast on RTÉ2.

He's a living example of the thing this workshop teaches: the first path you commit to isn't the only one, and a career is something you redesign rather than something you get right first time.

John O ConnorConnor, our CEO, has spent over 20 years helping people start businesses, first at the Enniscorthy Enterprise and Technology Centre, and since 2017 also here at The Hatch Lab.

His case for the The Hatch Lab rests on a Maynooth University study that found around 1,000 people leaving the Gorey area every morning to commute to Dublin for ICT work, in a town of just over 10,000.

The point he makes to young people is worth hearing tomorrow: the path forward doesn't have to lead out of Wexford.

Both will be joining Sara Carroll of Waggle Learning, who is facilitating.

Mapping Your Creative Path [FREE] 9am to 3pm at The Hatch Lab, Gorey.

Built around the Design Your Life framework developed at Stanford. You work individually and in small groups to get clear on your own vision and values, then use innovation and creative thinking techniques to map out alternative routes forward. It suits young people who have already committed to a course or a job, and it suits people who haven't a clue yet.

Sara Carroll is facilitating Mapping Your Creative Path, our free workshop for young innovators and creatives.

She spent over a decade at Google in learning and development, designed award-winning training programmes there, and was named to the Google Mastery Faculty as one of the company's best trainers.

She has since worked with the UCD Innovation Academy and holds their professional diploma in Creativity and Innovation for Educators in Enterprise, and she is an accredited the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator, so expect to be building and doing, not sitting listening.

Her line on development work is that we should be far more ambitious about how we grow people. That's what the day is built to do.

We're opening our doors on Culture Night for a free evening of music with Gorey based folk duo Ago

Poems Ago blend poetry, mythology and song into rich, atmospheric soundscapes, including a song about Tara Hill. It's a fitting match for a building that spends most of its week full of ideas.

As part of our Artist-in-Residence programme, artist Magda Karol will be creating a mural on one of our windows on Wednesday 26th August.

Hatch Lab residents will be invited to help paint a section of the mural on the day, gloves and aprons provided, no artistic experience required (we promise).

We'll be gathering design ideas from our hatch labbers over the next week, we're very excited about this new stage in the project.
