Inter Kenmare FC

This weekend saw both our U15 teams in action.

On Saturday the A team met a game St Brendan’s Park team in the first round of the National Cup, goals by Alistair, Kealan and a hat trick by Ben ensured we progress to the next round of the competition, while we will have tougher challenges it was great to get the first win of the season under their belts.

The B team travelled to Ballyhar Sunday morning, despite a spirited display they lost by the narrowest of margins, a team in transition they will have better days.

Thanks to Sheahans Pharmacy and Corrib Oil this week sponsors, your ongoing support is much appreciated by the club.

Our seniors were on the road again, this time an away trip to Iveragh. Inter travelled with the bear 11 so everyone was going to have to put in a shift to get any result.
Evan opened the scoring with a well placed free kick, Evan then turned provider as Ollie pounced to make it 2-0 at half time.
Goals from Darragh, Corey, Daniel and Darragh again to round up a good away performance with Dj Harrington in goal coming to the aid with a penalty save to top off a massive performance in goal.

U14 Girls - Premier
FT: Mastergeeha 4-2 Inter

We kicked off our Premier debut tonight against Mastergeeha and it was an eye-opening start. Mastergeeha flew three goals past us in the first 15 minutes - we hadn’t switched on and the pace in the back line was too leisurely.

We changed things up and a different game emerged. Our girls started to come into it, every ball being challenged, and Mastergeeha didn’t have major possession after that.

We pulled back two goals in the second half. Mastergeeha added a fourth from a free late on, but other than that chances were slim for them.

Abby was commanding in the back line, cutting off Mastergeeha’s attacks. Sinead did great work on the right wing, pumping the ball up the field. Elizabeth had some great saves in the first half with less to do after the break.

We had a cracking goal from Fallon in the second half, and Laoise added a second not long after - a rebound ricocheted in from the left wing.

In the end it was 4-2 to Mastergeeha, but we had plenty of chances, the ball just didn’t want to go in tonight.

Mastergeeha are a solid side and our girls really pressurised them once we woke up- a big change from a year ago when we went down 16-0 to this same team.

The girls played a super game in the second half, it was a different game entirely and we won that half 2-1!

Players of the Match: Ally Cremin CDM and Abbey O’Sullivan who started as CAM and swapped into CB after 15 mins.

Super effort girls! 💙🤍💙🤍

We are back, this Sunday morning at 10am our academy returns.

Great session today lads and fantastic turn out for a friendly. Full squad and enough to fill the subs bench too.

Massive shoutout to Alan and his 17’s for playing us, all last years youths that came on board and to Ken for helping with registration

Great confidence for a solid squad going forward. See you all at training on Tuesday night at 8pm and Ken will be there again to help anyone that needs registration.

We’re out of the traps!!

Not to be for our u14s in National Cup competition going down to a 1-0 defeat to Newport Town, Inter had plenty of chances but the number 1 in goals for the opponents was in top form. Thanks for all the support and well wishes to Newport

Opening game of the season away to Killorglin. Killorglin opened the scoring but Inter responded well and added a number of goals to secure the win.

Big well done to Inters own Byron Murphy for getting mentioned in the Schoolboys Team of The Week 🤩

This weekend saw a return to action for both our U15 teams.

The B team welcomed Park to Kenmare, always a tough assignment the boys battled well and the spoils were shared with a 3-3 score line, Odhran, Jamie and Byron got the goals however it was a real team performance.

In the Premier league the A team travelled to Kilorglin, while there’s never an easy game in this league they met a tough opposition who strengthened their squad over the Summer goals by Ben and Alistair were not enough to stem the Killorglin tide.

Both games asked many questions, we look forward to getting back to the training ground on Wednesday to prepare for the next round of games.

If you g*t a chance don’t forget to support this weekend U15 sponsors The Lansdowne Kenmare and Sheahans Pharmacy Kenmare 👏🏼👏🏼
