Intermediate Camogie:
Mungret St Pauls 0-04 Blackrock Effin 1-17
All roads led to Effin on Saturday September 5th for the eagerly awaited top of the table intermediate camogie clash between Blackrock Effin and Mungret St Paul’s.
With both teams already assured of their places in the semi-finals, this game would determine who secured home advantage in the semi-final.
The opening quarter was a close and keenly contested affair with no quarter asked or given and scores hard to come by. 2-points to 1 to Blackrock after 15mins. Blackrock took control for the remainder of the first half and took a healthy lead into half time.
Playing with the wind in the second half, Blackrock Effin battened down the hatches and kept the scoreboard ticking over and ran out convincing winners over a spirited MSP side that never gave up and fought tooth and nail to the final whistle. While MSP will be disappointed not to have registered more scores on the night the focus now turns to the Intermediate Championship semi-final against Na Piarsiagh in two weeks time when we will regroup and go again against the fancied side. Junior Camogie:
Mungret St Pauls: 1-04 Ballybrown 0-07
Sunday 6th Sept saw our Junior camogie squad take to the field for their second-round championship match versus Ballybrown. In an evenly matched contest throughout, Mungret St Paul’s played against the wind in the first half. Heroic defending kept them in the contest with scores hard to get throughout due to the intensity of the contest. The girls did well to hold Ballybrown to a two-point lead going into the break. With the wind in the second half, the girls pushed forward, but the intensity was relentless and scores were at a premium. Mungret’s perseverance eventually paid dividends, and they struck for a goal to put them ahead. It was nip and tuck all the way to the end as the game opened up. Great endeavour, intensity, and attitude throughout saw the girls secure an eventual draw for this young Mungret team against a Ballybrown side that included some very experienced players. This hugely encouraging outing marked the competitive adult debuts for a number of our younger girls who distinguished themselves throughout. U14 Treaty Cup Camogie:
On Thursday night our U14 camogie welcomed Patrickswell to battle it out for a place in the Treaty Cup final. Led by Captain Leah McAuliffe the Mungret girls led from throw in, in very very wet conditions. Patrickswell never gave up, even closing the gap to just 2 points in the final 5 mins with a quick goal, but there could only be one winner. Hard luck to the ‘well and the very best of luck to our entire U14 squad and Management in the final on Sat 19th September (fixture details to follow). U16 Division 1 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-10 Monaleen 1-18
Mungret St. Pauls U-16 hurlers faced Monaleen in the Division 1 Championship on Monday evening, 7 September 2026, with the visitors coming away with the points after a strong first-half performance. Mungret St. Pauls made an excellent start, registering three points inside the opening five minutes to establish an early lead. Another point followed in the tenth minute, and Mungret St. Pauls looked sharp in the opening exchanges. Monaleen responded with a goal in the sixth minute, followed by a number of points as they began to gain control of the contest. Mungret St. Pauls continued to work hard and added a further 2 scores, but Monaleen finished the half strongly. At the break, Monaleen led by 1-11 to 0-6.
Monaleen added an early point after the restart, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle and responded with two points. The Mungret St. Pauls players showed plenty of determination throughout the second half and continued to create scoring opportunities. A further 2 points added to their tally, but Monaleen maintained their advantage with a steady stream of scores.
Monaleen eventually secured the win on a final scoreline of 1-18 to 0-10. While the result was disappointing for Mungret St. Pauls, the young hurlers showed good character and continued to compete until the final whistle. The experience of playing at Division 1 level will be valuable as this young team continues its development. Well done to all the players and management for their efforts, and thanks to everyone who supported the team in Mungret.

Senior Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-09 Rathkeale 0-15
Mungret St. Pauls suffered defeat to Rathkeale in the Senior Football Championship in Adare on Friday evening, 11 September 2026, despite a determined second-half effort that saw Mungret St. Pauls finish strongly.
Mungret St. Pauls started brightly, with Darragh Bridgeman opening the scoring after five minutes before Darragh O'Sullivan doubled the lead shortly afterwards. Rathkeale responded with a point, and Shane Barry added another for Mungret St. Pauls.
Rathkeale then began to find their rhythm, scoring a succession of points to move ahead. Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle and James Killian added a late point, but Rathkeale went into the half-time break leading by 0-7 to 0-4. Darragh O'Sullivan reduced the deficit with a point immediately after the restart, but Rathkeale responded with a two-pointer and another point to strengthen their position. Mungret St. Pauls continued to fight with Conor Ó'Longaigh adding a point. Rathkeale, however, kept the scoreboard moving and gradually extended their advantage. Jack McCarthy got on the scoresheet for Mungret St. Pauls before Darragh O'Sullivan added another point five minutes later. Mungret St. Pauls best spell came in the closing stages. James Killian found the net in the 31st minute to give Mungret St. Pauls renewed hope, and Darragh O'Sullivan added another point shortly afterwards. Despite the late surge, time ran out as Rathkeale secured the win on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-9. This was the last group game with Mungret St. Pauls already having secured a Semi Final place before the game began, they now wait until next month to see who they play.





U14 Division 1 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-6 Monaleen 5-5
Mungret St. Pauls U-14 footballers faced Monaleen in the Division 1 Cup Final at Mick Neville Park on Saturday, 12 September 2026, with Monaleen emerging victorious after a challenging afternoon for the Mungret St. Pauls side. Playing with the breeze in the first half, Mungret St. Pauls made a positive start, opening the scoring with a point in the first minute. Monaleen responded with a goal before adding a point shortly afterwards. Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle hard and registered another point, however, Monaleen found the net twice more before the break, including a penalty, to establish a commanding lead. Despite Mungret St. Pauls efforts, Monaleen went in at half-time leading by 3-3 to 0-3. The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls continue to show determination and fight their way back into the contest. Monaleen added an early point, but Mungret St. Pauls responded with three consecutive points as they worked hard to close the gap. Mungret St. Pauls continued to push forward, but Monaleen struck for two further goals in quick succession to extend their advantage. The Mungret St. Pauls players never gave up and were rewarded in the closing stages when they were awarded a penalty, which was converted into a goal to bring their tally to 1-6. Despite their best efforts and some unlucky moments in front of goal, Mungret St. Pauls were unable to overturn the deficit, with Monaleen claiming the Division 1 Cup. While the result was disappointing, the Mungret St. Pauls players can be proud of their efforts in reaching the final and the determination they showed throughout the game. Reaching a cup final is a significant achievement, and the experience will stand to this young group as they continue their football development.

U14 Division 4 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-3 Ballybrown 2-8
Mungret St. Pauls' U-14 second football team faced Ballybrown in the Division 4 Cup Semi-Final on Saturday, 12 September 2026 with the opposition coming away with the victory.
Ballybrown made the stronger start, taking an early lead and finding the net to help them establish a 1-4 to 0-1 advantage at half-time. Mungret St. Pauls continued to work hard, but Ballybrown maintained their lead in the second half, adding another goal and further points.
Mungret St. Pauls kept battling throughout and added two more points to their tally, but they were unable to close the gap, with Ballybrown securing their place in the final.
Although the result did not go Mungret St. Pauls way, the young players can be extremely proud of their efforts. Reaching a cup semi-final against older opposition is a tremendous accomplishment and a valuable part of their development. Well done to all the players and management on a great campaign. The experience gained from this competition will be a huge benefit to the team as they continue to progress with Mungret St. Pauls.

Premier Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-14 Monagea 2-20
Mungret St. Pauls travelled to Cappagh on Saturday 12 September 2026, to take on Monagea in the Premier Junior A Football Championship, where a strong second-half performance from Monagea saw them claim a six-point victory. Mungret St. Pauls made a positive start to the contest, responding to an early Monagea point with one of their own. Monagea found the net in the sixth minute, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to work hard and kept themselves in contention with some well-taken points. The turning point of the first half came in the 20th minute when Mungret St. Pauls found the net to take the lead. Both sides continued to exchange scores in an entertaining opening period, with Mungret St. Pauls finishing strongly to go in at the break leading by 1-7 to 1-6. Mungret St. Pauls carried that momentum into the second half, adding two early points to extend their advantage. However, Monagea responded with a series of scores to regain the lead. Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle, and their persistence was rewarded near the end of the third quarter, when they found the net for their second goal of the afternoon. The sides remained close, but Monagea began to build momentum, registering two two-pointers before adding another goal and further points. Despite the growing deficit, Mungret St. Pauls refused to give up. They continued to press forward and added further points in the closing stages, but Monagea maintained their advantage to secure the win on a final scoreline of 2-20 to 2-14. Although disappointed with the result, Mungret St. Pauls can take positives from a competitive first half and the determination shown throughout the game. The team will look to learn from the experience. This was the last game in the group which sees Mungret St. Pauls finish in fourth place in the group.

Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-09 Hospital-Herbertstown 6-16
Mungret St. Pauls suffered a difficult afternoon in Meanus on Sunday, 13 September 2026, as Hospital-Herbertstown secured a comprehensive victory in the Junior A Football Championship.
Hospital Herbertstown made a blistering start, finding the net inside the opening minute to put Mungret St. Pauls immediately on the back foot. Hospital-Herbertstown continued to build their advantage, adding a two-pointer and another goal before the midway point of the first half.
Mungret St. Pauls got on the scoreboard in the third minute with a point, but Hospital-Herbertstown continued to dominate proceedings. Despite a further two scores from Mungret St. Pauls, the opposition maintained their scoring momentum, adding two-pointers and further goals to establish a commanding lead. A difficult opening half for Mungret St. Pauls was compounded by two goals in quick succession late in the period, leaving Hospital-Herbertstown ahead by 4-08 to 0-03 at the break. The second half began in similar fashion, with Hospital-Herbertstown raising another green flag immediately after the restart. A further goal in the fourth minute extended their advantage, making the challenge even greater for the Mungret St. Pauls side.
To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle and showed greater scoring intent as the half progressed. Two quick points, followed by two more scores, helped Mungret St. Pauls add to their tally. However, Hospital-Herbertstown continued to find scores at the other end, adding a series of points to maintain their substantial lead. Mungret St. Pauls finished the afternoon with a final point in the dying minutes, but Hospital-Herbertstown had the final say with another score in the closing stages. The final whistle confirmed a 6-16 to 0-09 victory for Hospital-Herbertstown. While the result was disappointing for Mungret St. Pauls, this was the last group game with Mungret St. Pauls staying in the Junior A group for next year but it is Hospital Herberstown go on to play in the quarter final.

The deadline for entries for the Glór na nÓg 2026 is fast approaching, all entries must be submitted by Monday 21st September. This is the last chance for your clubs to submit entries to win up to €10,000 for their clubs!

We are asking junior club members (10-18 years old) to share which GAA players inspire them. This GAA initiative opens participation to GAA clubs across countries outside of Ireland, expanding beyond the traditional Irish base to include the global GAA community.
Participants will access the initiative through QR codes displayed at their local GAA clubs or by visiting https://www.gaa.ie/glornanog on social and digital channels, leading them to a dedicated digital platform where they will answer two questions: “Who is your favourite player from any GAA code - hurling, football, camogie, ladies' football, handball, or rounders - and why?” and "Imagine yourself in the future as a GAA star and you are talking to your favourite player. Think Big! Tell them how they inspired you.”
