Would you take back your kids’ playroom? 👀😂

AD/ We did — and it’s now my office, spare room and apparently still the place everyone comes to hang out in.

We have blinds throughout our house and love them- so I headed into Curragh Fabrics in Ennis to have a look at my options for this room. I brought home some samples, they came out to measure up and, a few weeks later, the room is finally finished 🙌🏻

We decided on these gorgeous Luxaflex Glamour Midnight Roman blinds. They’re motorised and remote controlled, the deep navy velvet is exactly what I wanted, and I cannot get over how cosy — and properly blackout — they make the room.

Safe to say, I’m delighted with how it all came together 🫶

Are you team bright & airy or dark & moody?! 👀

At this stage, I’m completely unapologetic about the fact that Halloween becomes my entire personality for approximately six weeks of the year 👻😂

The decorations come out, the front door gets more dramatic by the day, and the kids are just as invested in it as I am 🎃

I honestly just love it 🫣

They're just as into it as me, and I know there’ll come a year when they probably won’t be nearly as invested— so for now I’m making the most of every bit of it.

Also, straw bales for the win 😂🎃

Another year, another Halloween front door done 👻🎃

Are we calling this finished… or am I missing something? 😂

Trying to remain calm, cool and collected has been… ever the challenge this week 😂

Individually, none of these things should be enough to send a person over the edge.

Collectively? Different story.

It’s the tiny, completely avoidable things that really test you as a parent 😂

Please tell me I’m not alone — what nearly tipped you over the edge in your house this week? Or maybe you have more chill and patience than me 🫣

If your child is hard on themselves, quick to say “I can’t”, or just a little unsure of themselves or their own ability, this is such a simple thing to try.

You do not need to stop saying “well done”.

But sometimes, make your praise more specific.

Instead of only praising the outcome, notice the effort, persistence, kindness, courage or problem-solving behind it.

A few examples you can try:

✨ “You kept going even when that got really hard.”

✨ “I noticed you tried a different way when the first one didn’t work.”

✨ “You were nervous about doing that, but you gave it a go anyway.”

✨ “I saw how patient you were there.”

✨ “You remembered to do that without me reminding you.”

✨ “You made a mistake, fixed it and kept going.”

✨ “You worked really hard on that — you should feel proud of yourself.”

✨ “I noticed you asked for help instead of giving up.”

Because over time, those are the messages we want them to start recognising for themselves.

“I can keep trying.” “I can figure things out.” “I can do hard things.”

We play such a big part in shaping the voice our children eventually use inside their own heads.

Save this post for the next time your child needs a little confidence boost — and share it with a fellow parent who might need it too 🤍

Tiny Humans Talk is officially LIVE 💗

I’ve been working on this for months and I’m so excited to finally be able to share it properly.

I wanted to create one place where parents could go for practical, easy-to-follow support with their child’s speech and language — without feeling overwhelmed by where to start or what to focus on.

Everything has been designed with real family life in mind.

Short, manageable lessons.
Lots of visuals and examples.
Practical strategies you can actually use at home.
And something you can dip in and out of whenever you have the time.

After 16 years working as a Speech & Language Therapist, and as a parent myself, I know how much of a difference it can make when you simply have a clearer idea of what to do next.

There are individual courses depending on where your child is at, as well as bundles if you’d like a more complete pathway.

And for launch, there is special early bird pricing available 💗

If supporting your child’s speech, language or communication is something you’ve been wanting to focus on, you can have a look at everything through the link in my bio.

And if you’re unsure which course is the right place to start, ask me in the comments below and I’ll happily help point you in the right direction 👇🏼
