My uncle used to swear that if someone fainted, a sip of water would bring them right round.

He believed it. Half the people I know believe some version of it. Turns out it's one of the most dangerous things you could actually do for someone who's unresponsive.

First aid is full of these hand-me-down "facts" — advice passed around kitchen tables and WhatsApp groups that nobody's ever actually checked. Sometimes it's harmless. Sometimes it's the exact opposite of what you should do.

So we pulled together 5 of the biggest myths we hear most often, and what's actually true. A couple of these might genuinely surprise you.

Swipe through the carousel below — and maybe don't take your uncle's advice next time 😅

Which myth surprised you the most? Let us know in the comments 👇

He picked up that box the way most people do every day — quick, careless, no second thought.

That one habit is how most manual handling injuries start.

Before any lift, TILE takes just ten seconds to run through:
🔹 Task — what does the lift involve?
🔹 Individual — are you fit for it?
🔹 Load — how heavy or awkward is it?
🔹 Environment — is the space around you safe?

Ten seconds. A completely different outcome for your spine. Watch how it plays out in the video above. 🎥

Does your team run through TILE before every lift, or is it something that gets skipped when things get busy? Let us know in the comments 👇

A team told us they were overwhelmed. Too much work, too many meetings, too many priorities — at least, that's what they thought.

When we looked closer, the real problem wasn't workload. It was prioritisation.

Everything felt important. Everything felt urgent. So people kept jumping from task to task, meeting to meeting, priority to priority — staying busy while progress quietly slowed down.

Here's why: every switch has a cost. Attention gets fragmented, momentum disappears, and quality drops. Not because people aren't working hard — because they're working on too many things at once.

The most productive teams don't do more. They do less, more deliberately.

If your team could stop doing one thing tomorrow, what would it be? Let us know in the comments 👇

Too many people misunderstand the role of safety.

Safety is not there to stop the work.

It’s there to help the work happen safely.

The best safety professionals understand the operation, respect the people doing the job, and focus on solving problems instead of creating friction.

But in many workplaces, safety has become disconnected from the reality of the work.

More paperwork.
More policing.
More “no.”

And eventually, people stop seeing safety as support and start seeing it as an obstacle.

That’s where trust breaks down.

Strong safety leadership is not about controlling everything.

It’s about helping people make safer decisions in the real world.

Because safety and operations should work together — not against each other.

And when they do, people stop avoiding safety conversations…

and start listening to them.

Everyone's using ChatGPT. Almost nobody was actually shown how. 🤷

So we built a simple guide — set up like IKEA instructions. Pictures, 12 steps, one afternoon, completely free.

No tech background needed. If you can follow a furniture manual, you can follow this.

Want it? Drop a comment with "CHATGPT" and we'll send it over 👇
(And tag someone who still types one-line questions into it 😅)
