Common Threads Project Launched Under Monaghanโs PEACEPLUS Action Plan.
Monaghan County Council was pleased to officially launch Theme 3: Celebrating Cultural Diversity of the PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan on Monday, 21st September at the Monaghan Peace Campus. The launch coincided with the Peace Seminar, symbolising the programme's commitment to fostering inclusion, understanding, and respect for all cultural identities.
As part of the PEACEPLUS Programme, Monaghan County Council has secured โฌ662,450.14 in funding under Theme 3 and will engage 1,055 participants through a diverse range of cross-community and cultural activities over the next two years.
In the coming months, an exciting programme of activities exploring music, dance, archaeology, language, storytelling, genealogy, and cultural traditions will create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to engage, learn, and celebrate both our shared heritage and the diversity that enriches our county. Together, these activities will highlight the common threads that bring people together, fostering connection, mutual understanding, hope, and a shared appreciation of our rich cultural heritage.
The Common Threads Working Group consists of six members: Mairรฉad McNally (Cultural Team) Karen McCague (Monaghan Libraries) Liam Bradley (Monaghan County Museum) Deirdriรบ McQuaid (Monaghan Libraires) Edel Bradley( Community & Enterprise) and Caroline Hunt (Cultural Team).
For more information about the Common Threads Project, please contact Mairรฉad McNally at the Peace Campus, Monaghan: 047 45279 or [email protected]
