History is being uncovered at Rossmore Park.
Archaeological test trenching has taken place at the former site of Rossmore Castle, marking an important step in the development of the Rossmore Community Archaeology Project.
Students from St Mary's BNS Monaghan and St Louis Monaghan Girls National School recently visited the site to see the archaeological work and learn more about the history of Rossmore Castle.
The project will give communities an opportunity to engage directly with Monaghanβs heritage, with a larger community excavation programme planned for summer 2027.
The project is a partnership between County Monaghan Heritage Office and Monaghan County Museum, with support from the Heritage Council and Monaghan County Council, and the cooperation of Coillte.
