R.N.U members from across Ireland remained with the residents of the Garvaghy road from the early hours of Sunday night. Spirits remain high as the community and wider republican community across Ireland continue to band together and resist the hate mob. Whatever tomorrows outcome may be, we remain committed to supporting the people of the Garvaghy road.

Minister Long posted:

“I appeal to the Orange Order because as Christians, I hold out more hope of them acting for the greater good than those engaging in unlawful protest.”

How dare she!

She appeals to one group as Christians — and dismisses the people of Gavaghy Road, standing to defend their homes, as nothing more than lawbreakers.

Let the truth be spoken:

- It was unlawful protest that ended apartheid in South Africa.
- It was our own Civil Rights campaign — ruled unlawful in its day — that broke systemic discrimination here.
- It was the Dunnes Stores anti-apartheid boycott — also judged unlawful — that stood for justice and was proven right.

Every struggle that advanced human dignity was branded illegal in its time.

Today, the people of Gavaghy Road stand in that exact same tradition. They oppose an unwanted, unconsented march forced through their community. They stand for their right to live in peace — and they are labelled the problem.

To extend grace and hope to the Orange Order — while condemning residents who stand where justice has always stood — is not leadership. It is prejudice. It is a double standard written in plain sight.

History will not side with those who call justice unlawful.

It will side with the people of Gavaghy Road!
