Father-of-five (57) dies in tragic farm accident - Independent.ie A 57-year-old father of five has died following an apparent farm accident in Co Clare the second in the county in a fortnight.

The Health and Safety Authority have issued a statement today that machinery is the biggest factor in farm accidents. 17 People have been killed to date this year. Please avoid this number getting any bigger. Please download a Farm Risk assessment from www.HSA.ie. Last week Labour TD Michael McCarthy quoted "today is an opportunity for farmers to dedicate a bit of time to thinking about health and safety on their farms, to identify potential dangers, and to consider ways to minimise risks". Farmers urged to review safety on farms Today is the first National Farm Safety Awareness Day and the Irish Farmers' Association is asking all farmers to set time aside today to review safety on their farm.
