It was a historic day for fellow celebrating Banbridge RFC on Saturday, and a momentous one in its own right for Skerries Rugby Club, as two proud men of Skerries added their names to the storied legacy of the Barbarian FC. 🏉

🧦 As tradition encourages, the barbarians players appeared in their home club socks, and it was a special sight to see the old gold, cerise and royal blue on those wearing 4️⃣ and 1️⃣5️⃣!

👨‍✈️To add to the honour of the occasion, Alan O' Connor had the privilege of captaining the invitational side to a 59-31 win, while Ronan Mulcahy emulated the achievements of his father - and current club president - Billy and grandfather, the late, great, Dr Bill in donning the famous black and white hoops. ⚫️⚪️

Massive congratulations to the two lads, who continue to be fantastic ambassadors for ! We are excited to see Ronan back in action with the senior squad for the new season, and we hope to welcome Alan back in the near future, as he continues to build his early coaching career! 🐐 🐐

💯 A big shout also to Banbridge on their - we look forward to renewing acquaintances in round two of the AIL at Rifle Park on Saturday, October 3rd. 🤝

Another brilliant day for Skerries Rugby Club
Huge congratulations to Emily Ericson and Zara McCarthy, who proudly represented Leinster North East at the IRFU U16 Girls National Blitz in Athlone, taking on Leinster South East, Leinster Midlands, Munster and Ulster.
Both girls put in strong performances throughout the day, with Emily scoring a superb solo try against Ulster, breaking through the defence from halfway before racing clear to the try line!
It's fantastic to see the hard work and commitment of both girls being recognised at representative level.
Everyone in Skerries RFC is incredibly proud of you both.
Keep flying the flag for in our club!

Players from clubs across the will have the opportunity to pull on one of rugby’s most famous jerseys when they represent the Barbarians against Banbridge RFC at Rifle Park on Saturday 8 August.

The fixture is the centrepiece of Banbridge RFC’s Centenary Festival, celebrating 100 years of rugby at the club, and continues the Barbarians’ long tradition of marking milestone occasions for clubs throughout the rugby world.

Our club is proud to see Ronan Mulcahy selected in the Barbarians squad, joining an exciting group of players from across the Irish game. He will line up alongside former Ireland and Ulster internationals including Ian Whitten, Will Addison, Craig Gilroy, Andy Warwick, Alan O’Connor and Dave Shanahan, creating a unique blend of experienced internationals and some of the very best talent from the All-Ireland League.

The Barbarians are renowned worldwide for their attacking style of rugby, sportsmanship and the honour associated with wearing the famous black and white jersey. Representing the club is a special achievement, and selection is recognition of the outstanding performances players have produced throughout the season.

The celebrations begin on Friday 7 August when Banbridge RFC hosts a live recording of the popular Stand Up – An Ulster Rugby Show podcast. Hosted by Peter Lockhart and Gareth Steenson, the evening will feature interviews with Barbarians players and coaches as they look ahead to Saturday’s match. Former Ulster, Ireland and Barbarians captain Willie Anderson will also be a special guest, sharing memories from an outstanding career and his experiences of representing one of rugby’s most iconic teams.

Kick-off is at 3.00pm on Saturday 8 August, with a large crowd expected at Rifle Park for what promises to be one of the highlights of the Irish rugby summer.

We wish Ronan and all involved with the Barbarians the very best for what promises to be a fantastic occasion and encourage all supporters to make the trip to Banbridge to cheer them on in this special centenary celebration.
