For the entire summer the herd has been followed by a changing array of bird species - a flock of juvenile starlings and a loping buzzard being most constant. The longer pastures we manage create so much space for nature across the whole farm. The fields are heaving with frogs, field mice, shrews and an exciting diversity of insects and spiders. Google tells me this is a European Garden Spider, an orb weaver spider - Araneus diadematus.
