๐ŸŒ September 16 | World Ozone Day ๐Ÿ’™

Protecting the ozone layer means protecting people, workplaces, and our planet.

The ozone layer plays a vital role in shielding us from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. For a health and safety company, this day is an important reminder that environmental protection and occupational health go hand in hand.

A few simple ways to promote health and safety:

๐Ÿงด Encourage appropriate sun protection for employees working outdoors โ€” sunscreen, protective clothing, hats and UV-rated eyewear.

๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Reduce unnecessary exposure to strong UV radiation, particularly during peak sunlight hours.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Include UV exposure in risk assessments for outdoor workers.

๐Ÿ’ง Encourage regular hydration and rest breaks when working in hot, sunny conditions.

โ™ป๏ธ Choose environmentally responsible products and practices that help reduce the release of harmful substances.

๐Ÿ“š Keep employees informed about UV risks, heat exposure and practical protective measures.

A safer workplace is also a more sustainable workplace.

This World Ozone Day, letโ€™s continue taking action to protect our people, our environment and the future we share. ๐ŸŒฑ

๐ŸŒง๏ธ AUTUMN VISIBILITY: MAKE SURE YOU CAN BE SEEN

As the days get shorter and the weather becomes more changeable, visibility on the roads can become a safety concern.

Whether you're walking, cycling or driving, take extra care:

๐Ÿšถ Walking: Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially in low light.

๐Ÿšฒ Cycling: Make sure your front and rear lights are working and use reflective gear.

๐Ÿš— Driving: Keep your windscreen, mirrors and lights clean, and slow down when visibility is poor.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ In wet weather: Allow extra stopping distance and be alert for pedestrians and cyclists who may be harder to see.

๐Ÿ’ก Remember: Being visible gives everyone more time to see, react and stay safe.

Shorter days are coming โ€” make sure you can be seen. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Back to Work: Look After Your Mental Health

September can feel like a fresh start, but getting back into work, school and everyday routines can also bring extra stress.

Take a moment to look after your wellbeing:

๐ŸŒฟ Ease back into your routine โ€“ You don't have to do everything at once.

โฐ Set healthy boundaries โ€“ Make time for life outside work.

๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritise sleep and recovery โ€“ Rest is an important part of staying well.

โ˜• Take proper breaks โ€“ Step away, recharge and give your mind a chance to reset.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Check in with colleagues โ€“ A simple โ€œHow are you doing?โ€ can make a difference.

โค๏ธ Remember: Looking after your mental health is part of looking after your overall health.

If you're finding things difficult, don't be afraid to talk to someone you trust or seek professional support.

A healthy routine isn't about doing more โ€” it's about finding a balance that works for you.

๐ŸŽ’ Back to School. Back to Routine. Back to Safety.

As schools return, many of us are adjusting to earlier mornings, busier roads and new daily routines.

A change in routine can lead to distractions, fatigue and rushingโ€”all of which increase the risk of workplace accidents.

This September, remember to:
โœ” Allow extra travel time.
โœ” Stay alert on the roads, especially near schools and pedestrian crossings.
โœ” Avoid rushing into tasks.
โœ” Take a moment to refocus before starting work.
โœ” Look out for colleagues who may also be adjusting to new routines.

A safe day starts long before you arrive at work.

Slow down. Stay focused. Stay safe.
