Releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. Compassion Ireland is Christ Centred, Church Based and Child Focused.

Visit our website www.compassion.ie to find out more. Founded in 1952, Compassion is a leading Christian child development ministry committed to releasing children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty in Jesus’ name. To do this, Compassion partners with 8,500+ churches in more than 25 countries around the world to deliver our holistic child development programme. Every child born into poverty faces a unique combination of challenges. That’s why our programme doesn’t just care for one area of a child’s life, giving them food or education in isolation, for example. Instead, our holistic child development programme empowers a child to overcome poverty in every area of their lives. We believe caring for a child’s mind, body, heart and spirit is the most effective way to release them from poverty, for good! We are Christ-centred: We believe that the Church is the hope of the world. We run our programmes in exclusive partnership with more than 8,500 local churches because they know their communities inside out. We’re church-based: Jesus is at the heart of what we do. Our programmes show God’s love for children born into extreme poverty. Whilst Christ’s love motivates us, we help children and families from all backgrounds, regardless of belief. We’re child-focused: We intentionally focus on caring for children most vulnerable to the devastating effects of poverty. We support children in every area of their lives, tackling the root causes of poverty that hold them back. We are committed to integrity: We’re committed to handling the finances entrusted to us with the utmost integrity. Your donations are used wisely and strategically, and always for the greatest benefit of children in poverty. Compassion connects you and the church around the world to end poverty in the life of a child, in Jesus' name. Learn more about what we do at: https://www.compassion.ie

You might notice some beautiful drawings at your next Compassion event or while you scroll through our content. There’s a story behind them that you’ll want to hear. 🎨

We invited children registered at Compassion projects around the world to draw their lives, hopes and neighbourhoods. The result? Over 5,000 drawings, each one alive with colour, creativity and story.

These were expressions of childhood. Joyful, bold, playful. Sometimes messy. Always meaningful.

With love and care, these artworks have been translated into a new global illustration library, reflecting that children are at the heart of all we do.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Faith isn't having all the answers. It's choosing to trust the one who does.

Join us in prayer as we place our trust in him today. 🙏

An update from the Philippines, 1 week on
Last Monday, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao on the very first day of the new school year. 3.2 million children had their start to a new term turned upside down, and the nation continues the road to recovery. We're glad to share that no children sponsored through Compassion have lost their lives. Our local church partners are already on the ground, responding with practical support and steady presence. But the need is ongoing. Families are still displaced. Schools are damaged. Several aftershocks have continued to shake already frightened communities. Please continue to pray with us:

🙏For children still in evacuation centres
🙏 For families beginning to rebuild
🙏 For the local church to be a faithful and present source of hope in the hardest moments

We thank God that he is their refuge.

⚽ The World Cup kicks off today.

For Alejandro, football started as a dream.

As a child attending his local Compassion project in Honduras, he loved playing as a midfielder and dreamed of one day becoming a professional footballer.

Today, at just 18 years old, he's living that dream.

Alejandro now plays professionally in Honduras, but he hasn't forgotten where he came from. Alongside his football career, he spends time investing in younger players at his local Compassion project, helping them develop their skills and confidence on and off the pitch.

His advice?

*"Work hard, stay consistent, and never give up."*

We're cheering Alejandro on as he continues to inspire the next generation.

UPDATE: 8 June Philippines Earthquake

Hear from Edwin, our Compassion photojournalist on the ground, as he brings the latest update on how children and communities are doing in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support for the families and communities across the Philippines in the aftermath of the powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck on Monday.

We’re continuing to hear updates from our National Office and church partners, but we can confirm that every single Compassion sponsored child in the area has been accounted for and is safe.

While we praise God for their safety, the road ahead is incredibly challenging for many across the nation.

How you can help:

🙏 Please continue to pray for all those impacted, for those grieving loved ones for those who have lost livelihoods and those facing significant damage to their houses and churches.

🌍 If you feel moved to support practically, please consider offering towards the Disaster Fund. You can find the link here: https://bit.ly/43rs99m

Please join us in praying for the Philippines following a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Mindanao island early on Monday, 8 June.

Initial reports indicate that at least 32 people have tragically lost their lives and more than 130 have been injured.

We invite you to lift up in prayer those who are grieving loved ones, those who've been injured and families who've lost homes and livelihoods.

Please also pray for Compassion’s local church partners across Mindanao, that they'd be a source of strength, hope and practical support to their communities during this difficult time.

As always, we'll be in touch if the child you sponsor has been directly affected.

When disaster strikes, children living in poverty are often the hardest hit.

Floods, earthquakes, drought and conflict can leave families without shelter, clean water, food or safety in a matter of moments.

But even in the middle of a crisis, God is present. And through the local church, His love is reaching families with provision and hope.

Join us in praying for children and families living through uncertainty, and for the local churches continuing to serve their communities with courage and compassion.

This prayer from children in Guatemala will make your day! 🇬🇹
We’re passionate about discipling children and young people to understand the power of prayer and to know they can come to God in every moment.

Through our church partners, children are learning that they can always call upon God to provide for them, comfort them and guide them in their everyday lives.
