In this video, we look at an automated water level controller for residential use, powered by a simple yet highly effective float switch. A float switch is a mechanical device designed to automatically turn a water pump motor on and off based on the tank's water level.
How It Works
The mechanism uses a metal ball enclosed within an airtight, buoyant container equipped with electrical contacts. As the water level drops, the float switch lowers, causing the internal ball to roll and bridge the conductors. This completes the circuit and activates the motor. Conversely, as the water level rises, the float lifts, causing the ball to roll away from the contacts, breaking the circuit and turning the motor off.
Upgraded Option
For enhanced reliability, heavy-duty float switch models are also available, offering superior electrical safety and advanced insulation.
