1976: A Milestone in Our Journey 💙

In 1976, World Vision India was officially registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Act, 1960, marking an important chapter in its commitment to serving vulnerable children and communities across India.

What began as a vision to create lasting change has grown into a nationwide movement that partners with children, families, communities, and local institutions to address challenges related to education, health, child protection, livelihoods, and community development.

Over the years, the focus has remained unchanged: empowering children to reach their full potential and strengthening communities to create sustainable futures. Every milestone achieved since then reflects the collective efforts of supporters, partners, staff, volunteers, and communities working together toward a common goal.

As we look back on this significant moment, we also look ahead with renewed commitment to building a future where every child can live a life of dignity, opportunity, and hope.

From Hesitation to Confidence 💙

When Sandhya, REC Coordinator for Marungapuri ADP, and her team assessed 323 children, they found that 235 children were performing below expected literacy levels.

Many children were hesitant to speak, lacked confidence, and struggled to read even simple words, sentences, or paragraphs. While some could recognize and spell letters, they needed additional support to develop essential reading skills.

Through the dedication of teachers and the support provided at eight Remedial Education Centres (RECs), a remarkable transformation began to take place. Children who were once shy and fearful are now speaking confidently, reading aloud, and participating actively in learning activities.

These improvements are about more than literacy. They are helping children build self-confidence, develop a love for learning, and strengthen the foundation they need for future success.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn with confidence and reach their full potential. Together, we are helping make that possible.

Through Remedial Education Centres, children are receiving the support they need to overcome learning barriers, build confidence, strengthen their skills, and stay on the path towards a brighter future.

Because when we invest in a child’s learning today, we help shape a better tomorrow.

The launch of women's development initiatives marked an important step toward creating opportunities for women to lead, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

When women gain access to skills, resources, and opportunities, they are better equipped to support their families, build sustainable livelihoods, and participate in community decision-making. Their leadership and resilience become powerful drivers of positive change.

Over the years, investments in women's empowerment have helped strengthen financial independence, encourage community participation, and create pathways for greater equality and opportunity. The impact extends beyond individuals, benefiting children, families, and entire communities.

By continuing to support and empower women, we help build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We were thinking of getting our daughter married after Grade 10. Today, she is continuing her education."" 💙

Siddhamma, Aishwarya's mother, remembers a time when financial challenges placed her daughter's future at risk. With limited resources, the family found it difficult to support Aishwarya's education beyond Grade 10 and considered early marriage as the only option.

Everything changed when World Vision India engaged with the family, encouraging them to prioritize their daughter's education and supporting them in overcoming financial barriers. With this assistance, Aishwarya was able to continue her studies and pursue opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

Today, Siddhamma is filled with gratitude as she sees her daughter moving forward with confidence and hope. Her story is a powerful reminder that when girls are given the opportunity to learn, they can build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Together, we can help ensure that every girl has the chance to stay in school, pursue her dreams, and reach her full potential.

Every child deserves to grow up in an environment where they feel safe, protected, and supported.

Creating a safe childhood goes beyond preventing harm. It means ensuring that children have access to education, caring relationships, opportunities to participate, and the support they need to reach their full potential. When families, communities, schools, and organizations work together, children are better protected from violence, exploitation, neglect, and other risks that can impact their future.

Protecting children is a collective responsibility. By fostering safe spaces, promoting awareness, and strengthening support systems, we can help children grow with confidence, dignity, and hope.

Together, let's build a future where every child is safe, protected, and empowered to dream big.

42 out of every 1,000 children never reach their fifth birthday due to malnutrition. 💙

Good nutrition is one of the most important foundations for a child's survival, growth, and development. The early years of life are critical, shaping a child's physical health, cognitive development, and ability to learn and thrive.

When children receive the nourishment they need, they are healthier, more active, and better equipped to succeed in school and beyond. Proper nutrition not only helps prevent illness but also enables children to reach important developmental milestones and build brighter futures.

At World Vision India, we are committed to improving child well-being through nutrition interventions, caregiver awareness, and community-based support that help children get the healthy start they deserve.

Together, we can help ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and celebrate many more birthdays surrounded by hope, health, and opportunity.

This International Day of Democracy, we celebrate the importance of listening to children and encouraging their meaningful participation in decisions that affect their lives.

When children are given safe spaces to express their thoughts, share their ideas, and participate in their communities, they develop confidence, leadership skills, and a stronger sense of belonging. Their perspectives can help shape solutions, strengthen communities, and contribute to a more inclusive future.

At World Vision India, we believe that every child has the right to be heard and valued. By nurturing participation and amplifying children's voices, we can help create environments where they are empowered to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Together, let's champion a future where every child is seen, heard, and encouraged to make a difference.

52.9% of schools in India have basic hand hygiene facilities. Imagine the difference when every child does. 💙

A handwashing station is more than a facility. It is a simple yet powerful tool that helps protect children from preventable illnesses and promotes healthier school environments.

When children have access to proper hygiene facilities, they are more likely to stay healthy, attend school regularly, and participate actively in learning. Good hygiene practices not only safeguard their well-being but also contribute to improved educational outcomes and overall development.

Creating child-friendly hygiene facilities is an important step toward building schools where every child can learn with confidence and dignity. By improving access to safe water, sanitation, and handwashing facilities, we can help children stay healthy, focused, and ready to achieve their full potential.

Together, we can create healthier schools and brighter futures for every child.
