The illusion of change - Alan Watts
You’ve made the pros and cons list four times. You’ve asked everyone you trust. You’ve replayed every version of the decision in your head — and you still don’t feel any closer to knowing.
That’s because overthinking isn’t the same as deciding. It feels productive, but it’s often just fear circling the same spot, hoping one more lap will make it safe to choose.
Clarity rarely comes from more thinking. It usually comes from stillness — from quieting the noise long enough to hear what you already sensed underneath it.
You don’t need one more pro-con list. You need one honest, quiet minute. 🤍
Your suffering might just have one cause…..

Which one of these lands for you? 👀
Alan Watts said all four of these decades ago. Vedanta was saying the same thing three thousand years before that. Two languages, one insight, still true either way.
Save this one for the next time you need to hear it in fewer words.

Something’s clearly wrong, and you say “it’s fine, I’m just grateful for what I have.” Meanwhile the actual feeling never gets to move — it just gets buried under a nicer-sounding sentence.
Faking fine isn’t peace. It’s avoidance wearing a calmer outfit. And the feeling you skip never actually leaves — it just waits.
Real stillness doesn’t come from pretending you’re okay. It comes from letting yourself feel exactly what’s there, without needing to fix it or dress it up right away.
You’re allowed to not be fine and still be okay. 🤍
What does your peace depend upon?
What is the difference between Ta**ra and Vedanta
What if perfectionism was never about high standards — just fear dressed up as effort?
Redoing something for the tenth time doesn’t always mean it’s not good enough. It usually means you’re scared of how it’ll be received.
Nothing wholesome was ever built by waiting for flawless. It was built by showing up as you are, and letting that be enough for today.

Why doesn’t replaying an argument in your head ever actually resolve it? 🌀
Because rumination was never about resolving it. it’s your brain’s attempt at threat prevention, running on a loop, scanning a moment that’s already over.
Self-inquiry breaks it differently — not by finding the “right” answer to what happened, but by asking who’s still stuck holding it.
Save this for the next time you catch yourself spiraling on something that already ended.
