The fever of the convocation season 2026 can't be over without spotlighting two very fine M.Tech. graduates: Jigmet Chorol and Tsering Gaphel
Jigmet (to my left) graduates with high level of expertise in ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด, ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ๐, ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐บ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ and establishing proof-of-concept approach for pre-emptive detection of ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ through vibration measurements.
Tsering (standing to my right) is graduating as a highly confident sustainability innovator, developing ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐-๐ฑ๐๐ป๐ด ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ for his home state Laddakh. He successfully infused reed (sarkanda) in cow-dung brick to enhance it's properties.

The 57th convocation of IIT Delhi, with our Prime Minister as the Chief Guest, held on 08 August 2026 was special to our lab ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ in several ways. It not only marked 20th year of our lab but also witnessed achieving doctoral head trick. All three doctoral theses culminated in solving real-world problems by innovative product development with real-life applications. It is a matter of pride for me as mentor to introduce each one to the world.

Sreenitya Singamsetty (to my left side in first picture) compeleted her PhD thesis on topic ๐ก๐ผ๐ป-๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Dr. Naveet Kaur from CSIR-CRRI was Co-guide. Also seen in the picture is her daughter ๐ฆ๐ฟ๐ถ ๐๐๐ต๐ป๐ถ, who cooperated a lot with her mom during the entire PhD. Being daughter of working couple, sometimes ๐ฆ๐ฟ๐ถ ๐๐๐ต๐ป๐ถ used to come to lab. But she did her best to be engrossed in study or artwork so as not to disturb her mom.
On my right side is another star performer ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฆ๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐ต, who completed her doctoral thesis on topic ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ป ๐ก๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ๐๐๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐น๐ณ-๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ ๐๐น๐๐ถ-๐๐๐ป๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Her thesis led to the filing of a patent.
Standing in the second picture is third doctoral graduate ๐๐ฟ. ๐ก๐ฎ๐บ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ who worked on the topic ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐-๐ฑ๐๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. Her contributions shall go in long way towards IKS inspired sustainable construction. Prof. Virendra Kumar Vijay and Prof. Ajay Saini were other Supervisors.
Traditionally, women students from our lab have always outshined in careers and these three Laxmis shall be no exception in taking the nation towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
