A runway is only complete when there’s an audience to experience it. Here’s one voice from KAI Fashion Weekend.

"If we don't use something regularly, it tends to fade away and disappear." 🐎

Saving the endangered Manipuri Pony requires more than just government initiatives — it takes real community action to keep the breed relevant. By creating good places to ride and bringing the pony back into regular use, we can naturally drive market demand and increase their population.

Taking up pony riding and Polo might seem intimidating at first, but stepping past that fear is one of the most powerful actions you and your family can take. Getting involved in the sport is a massive step toward preserving this historic breed and turning it into a thriving opportunity for the future.

"If we have proper grazing grounds for Ponies and a sustainable source of income, then the Pony population will increase." 🐎

While a government grazing field exists, it simply isn't enough for the current number of ponies. Because riders are spread across areas like Kakching, Yairipok, and Thoubal, grazing fields must be allocated district-wise to truly support the community. Beyond land, saving the Manipuri Pony comes down to economics.

Polo is a demanding sport requiring costly gear like bridles, saddles, and saddle blankets. If owning and riding ponies can become a reliable source of income, players will naturally be incentivized to keep more horses, driving up the breed's population and ensuring its long-term survival.

"Loving the pony alone is not enough." 🐎

Polo player Victor Kabrabam breaks down the harsh reality of saving the endangered Manipuri Pony. With zero income generated from the horses, dedicated players are currently safeguarding them out of their own pockets.

To truly save them, we need more than just a passion for the sport—we need protected conservation grazing grounds in natural habitats like Lamphelpat and Yaralpat.

Securing these specific lands around Imphal is the most practical way to halt their population decline.

"Today's trail ride was really fun... but I don't think I'll be able to ride back after falling from the horse." 😂🐴

Meet Sora Khundrakpam. He’s been learning to ride for a little over a year, and he’s here to give you the most beautifully honest review of today's adventure. The initial hill climb? Incredibly fun. The stunning scenic views? Unmatched. The unexpected tumble that made him choose a different route back? Entirely fair!

Adventure isn't about everything going perfectly; it’s about navigating the controllable and uncontrollable moments - and keeping a smile on your face through it all. Big props to Sora for being such a champ! 🏔️✨

Have you ever had an adventure that didn't go exactly to plan? Let us know in the comments! 👇

The best way to protect the Manipuri pony is to experience it for yourself. Saddle up, join a riding class, or book a trail ride to support the caretakers keeping this legacy alive! 🐎

We’ve tagged a few folks 👆we know who are doing incredible work organizing these rides, but they are just part of a wider community. If you know others.. offering pony riding classes, organising trail rides, etc.. while protecting our ponies, tag them in the comments below!
